[job-30810] Master Data Architect, Brasil.
Job description
[job-30810] Master Data Architect, Brasil. at CI&T.
About the role
The role is situated within a mission focused on the evaluation, modernization, and re-architecture of a critical data platform for a major educational institution. You will own the technical vision and end-to-end delivery of the target state architecture on the Databricks and AWS ecosystem. This position requires deep collaboration with both technical and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable and governed data solutions. You will be responsible for designing the future-state blueprint, ensuring it balances innovation with operational stability. Your leadership will directly influence the technical direction and long-term success of the program. You will mentor and grow a team of data engineers, elevating the overall technical capability of the data organization.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect the target solution design by defining data structures, processing workflows, storage strategies, consumption patterns, and governance frameworks aligned with business unit requirements.
- Conduct structured assessments of existing ETL/ELT processes, reporting layers, and system integrations to map cross-system dependencies and inform rationalization decisions.
- Execute objective evaluations of current workloads to determine the optimal strategy of migration, refactoring, retirement, or deferral for the modernization journey.
- Establish and enforce quality gates covering completeness, freshness, accuracy, and lineage across all data pipelines to ensure robust data governance.
- Implement governance and security policies utilizing Unity Catalog, including RBAC/ABAC frameworks, data classification, masking protocols, lineage tracking, and auditability measures.
- Define orchestration strategies for pipelines using Databricks Workflows, Airflow, or equivalent technologies, and design operational models for monitoring, alerting, and failure handling.
- Drive technical alignment across cross-functional teams, participating in solution design, conducting code reviews, and interfacing with corporate architecture and infrastructure departments.
- Influence the enterprise roadmap by evaluating risks, business value, and technical effort to prioritize initiatives and guide the product direction.
- Produce comprehensive architectural artifacts such as diagrams, ADRs, runbooks, dependency maps, and standards guidelines for internal and client consumption.
- Enable knowledge transfer and upskill teams within the client and CI&T by leading training sessions and documenting best practices.
- Partner with business stakeholders to ensure architectural decisions support strategic objectives and deliver tangible business outcomes.
- Optimize cost and performance through FinOps principles, ensuring scalability and efficiency within the cloud infrastructure.
- Establish data quality frameworks, including SLA/SLO definitions, quality checks, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure reliability.
- Act as a technical authority and mentor, fostering a culture of excellence, learning, and continuous improvement within the data engineering teams.
Requirements
- Hold a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Data Architecture, with at least 2 to 3 years explicitly in a Data Architect role or equivalent technical leadership capacity.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of architecting data platforms in medium to large-scale modernization or migration initiatives, not only greenfield projects.
- Show practical expertise with both relational and non-relational data models, including platforms such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and similar technologies.
- Apply strong performance optimization practices, including partitioning strategies, Z-order indexing, caching mechanisms, and data job tuning.
- Possess the ability to define platform-level standards covering cluster strategies, data aging policies, cost control measures, security implementations, and governance frameworks.
- Utilize AWS tools for large-scale data storage and processing, demonstrating hands-on experience with the cloud provider's core services.
- Design architectures that comprehensively address security, scalability, cost-efficiency (FinOps), and seamless integration with the client's existing technology landscape.
- Create and implement data governance frameworks, including domain definitions, ownership models, access policies, and cataloging strategies.
- Define and measure data SLAs and SLOs, establishing data quality checks and monitoring procedures to maintain high integrity levels.
