About the role
You will own the full lifecycle of UK corporate tax engagements from initial client scoping through to final delivery and quality review. In this capacity, you act as the primary technical lead responsible for directing day to day activities and ensuring that all deliverables meet the firm's standards for accuracy, clarity, and timeliness. You will translate complex UK tax regulations into practical guidance that directly supports client business decisions and operational execution. The role requires an entrepreneurial mindset where you continuously question existing approaches and propose enhancements to service delivery and client outcomes. You will build trusted relationships with clients by clearly articulating tax positions and the rationale behind key judgments. Ultimately, you will drive the successful execution of demanding projects while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the overall growth of the UK tax practice.

What you'll do
Lead the planning, execution, and review of UK corporate tax compliance engagements for a portfolio of diverse clients.
Prepare accurate and technically sound UK entity and group tax numbers, applying IFRS, UK GAAP, and reconciling differences with US GAAP where applicable.
Draft high-quality technical memoranda that explain complex tax positions, adjustments, and the implications of accounting treatments for tax purposes.
Advise clients on tax reporting processes, controls, and governance frameworks to strengthen internal tax functions and regulatory compliance.
Perform in-depth analysis of UK corporation tax returns, identifying key risk areas, unusual items, and opportunities for process improvement.
Conduct tax due diligence for client transactions, assessing tax exposures and structuring considerations from a UK perspective.
Develop and implement tax structuring solutions that align with commercial objectives while managing regulatory risk and compliance.
Collaborate with the Cfgi US tax team to coordinate cross-border tax issues and support multinational client groups with integrated reporting needs.
Support clients in preparing for IPOs by addressing tax reporting readiness, compliance timelines, and interaction with regulators.
Identify and lead targeted business development initiatives within the UK tax practice, including proposal drafting and client presentations.
Partner with professionals across Cfgi service lines to design integrated solutions that address accounting, finance, and operational challenges.
Monitor changes in UK tax legislation and policy, translating updates into practical guidance for client engagements and internal methodologies.
Champion the use of technology and standardized workflows to improve the efficiency, consistency, and scalability of tax delivery.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, articulating the commercial impact of tax decisions and strategic options.
Contribute to the development of playbooks, templates, and knowledge management tools that enhance the quality and repeatability of services.
Requirements
You hold a recognized professional qualification in accountancy or a related field with substantial tax technical content.
You possess demonstrable experience of UK tax reporting processes across a range of corporate structures and industries.
You have a strong knowledge of tax reporting under IFRS and UK GAAP, with an understanding of the key differences and reconciliation approaches to US GAAP.
You are experienced in the preparation and review of UK corporation tax returns, including compliance timelines and filing obligations.
You have a solid technical understanding of common UK tax adjusting items such as capital allowances, interest deductibility, hybrid mismatches, and loss utilization strategies.
You understand tax governance principles, including risk assessment, control frameworks, and the design of effective tax strategy documentation.
You have the ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
You communicate complex tax concepts clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences within client organizations.
Nice to have
Experience working with US headquartered multinationals and their specific UK tax reporting requirements.
Familiarity with cash tax modelling and the integration of tax data into financial models.
Knowledge of tax aspects related to IPO readiness and interactions with regulators.
Experience in business development activities, including drafting proposals and contributing to sales conversations.
