Engineering Manager
Job description
About the role
represents a pivotal leadership opportunity within the Product Engineering organization, responsible for steering the strategic and operational success of core healthcare platform initiatives. This role is central to enabling provider-facing financial and operational workflows, requiring a leader who can steward critical technical programs from conception through durable execution. The hire will guide complex and evolving architecture while ensuring all outputs meet rigorous standards for durability, performance, and quality across distributed systems. Success in this position demands close collaboration with engineering leadership, product, and sales teams to shape long-term strategy and define concrete delivery outcomes. You will own the execution of high-impact projects that directly influence the company's ability to serve its healthcare customers effectively and scale responsibly.
What you'll do
Provide ownership for engineering practices with a focus on the delivery and maintenance of critical services and features that underpin the platform. You will exercise broad ownership over priorities for both internal teams and external customers, balancing competing demands and navigating tradeoffs to maintain alignment between technical constraints and business goals. This includes thoughtful scoping of projects and disciplined review of implementation plans so that technical direction remains clear and executable. You will develop a deep understanding of the codebase and advocate for design and delivery practices that enhance collaboration across multiple organizational units, ensuring that work is coordinated and efficient. Leading and enabling multiple engineering teams is a core function of this position. You will set the direction for technical leads and individual contributors, ensuring teams are effective, motivated, and aligned with company objectives. You will experiment with team structures, processes, and systems to drive consistent outcomes while mentoring engineers and tech leads to expand their impact and advance their careers. A significant part of this role involves working closely with talent acquisition and hiring partners to identify, evaluate, and recruit exceptional engineers for our growing platform.
Technical strategy will be defined in partnership with company and product leadership. You will design systems, architecture, and operational processes that support both immediate delivery timelines and long-term product vision. Data-driven decisions will guide your work as you seek to improve reliability, performance, and scalability while reducing unnecessary operational load. You will dive into software architecture, using domain expertise to solve business problems and eliminate friction in workflows. Key responsibilities include providing ownership for engineering practices, focusing on the delivery and maintenance of critical services and features. You will lead teams through planning, prioritization, tracking, and execution to achieve high-impact results. You will support teams in maintaining a high level of technical quality, reliability, and developer experience. Acting as an influencer across the organization, you will identify and remove delivery obstacles. You will use data to guide decisions that enhance reliability, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency. Applying deep software architecture knowledge to advance business objectives is central to the role, as is recruiting and staffing engineering roles in collaboration with talent acquisition professionals. You will mentor and coach direct reports and peers to build healthy, high-performing teams.
Requirements
A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is required. You should bring six or more years of experience in software engineering leadership, including roles such as technical lead, manager, or manager of managers. A proven record of leading teams to ship impactful features in complex product areas is essential. You must demonstrate strong technical judgment in selecting architecture and patterns that produce functional, durable, and maintainable solutions. This position requires the ability to manage in multiple directions, including laterally across teams and upward with executive stakeholders and peers. You must be able to advocate for yourself and your team while deciding when to engage deeply in details and when to delegate effectively to maximize impact. Experience conducting interviews, hiring engineers, and mentoring product-focused teams is required, as you will actively shape the engineering culture. You are a clear and concise communicator who can explain complex topics in straightforward terms, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences.
