What you'll do
- Install, maintain, and repair solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential and commercial properties, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to plan and execute solar installations efficiently and effectively.
- Conduct site assessments to determine the best placement and configuration for solar panels, taking into account factors such as shading, roof orientation, and structural integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to solar systems, including electrical faults, wiring problems, and equipment malfunctions.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on installed solar systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior electricians and laborers, sharing knowledge and best practices in solar installation and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation details, maintenance schedules, and any issues encountered during projects.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, particularly those related to safety, quality control, and environmental responsibility.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as project demands require, ensuring timely completion of installations.
- Engage with clients to provide excellent customer service, addressing any questions or concerns they may have regarding their solar systems.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating effectively with colleagues and maintaining open lines of communication.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an electrical apprenticeship program is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical work, with a focus on solar installations being highly advantageous.
- Valid electrician's license or certification in the state of California.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and safety protocols related to solar energy.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy equipment, work at heights, and perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and clients.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites across Los Angeles County.
Nice to have
- Experience with battery storage systems and energy management technologies.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations related to solar installations.
- Certification from a recognized solar training program, such as NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners).
