What you'll do
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and internal policies.
- Manage the month-end close process, including the reconciliation of accounts and preparation of journal entries.
- Conduct thorough reviews of financial reports to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and provide insights that support business operations and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process by providing accurate forecasts and variance analysis.
- Maintain and enhance accounting systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting regulations that may impact the organization.
- Participate in special projects as needed, contributing financial expertise to enhance organizational performance.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations applicable to the industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks and Excel is essential.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
