What you'll do
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategies that align with Bricarts Media's goals and objectives in government relations and external affairs.
- Conduct thorough research on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the arts and culture sector to inform advocacy efforts.
- Draft and prepare policy briefs, position papers, and reports that articulate the organization's stance on relevant issues.
- Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal government officials, as well as community organizations and other stakeholders.
- Organize and participate in meetings, events, and forums to promote Bricarts Media's initiatives and engage with key stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze legislative developments and policy changes that impact the arts community, providing timely updates to the team.
- Assist in the coordination of advocacy campaigns, including grassroots mobilization and outreach efforts to engage the community.
- Support the planning and execution of public events that highlight Bricarts Media's contributions to the arts and culture landscape.
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop messaging and materials that effectively communicate Bricarts Media's mission and advocacy priorities.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions with government officials and stakeholders to track engagement and outcomes.
- Contribute to grant writing and fundraising efforts by providing insights on government funding opportunities and public policy trends.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge of government affairs and advocacy strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Arts Administration, Political Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or advocacy, preferably within the arts or nonprofit sector.
- Strong understanding of the legislative process and experience engaging with government officials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and organizational partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information and provide actionable insights.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with advocacy tools and platforms.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the arts and culture sector.
