What you'll do

• Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of water and wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently.
• Lead a team of operators and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and performance.
• Monitor and analyze treatment processes, making adjustments as necessary to optimize efficiency and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure all systems are functioning correctly.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of operations, including water quality testing results, maintenance activities, and compliance reports.
• Collaborate with environmental agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to local, provincial, and federal regulations regarding water treatment.
• Implement safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe working environment for all staff and visitors.
• Assist in the development and implementation of operational procedures and policies to improve service delivery and efficiency.
• Respond to emergencies and operational issues promptly, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to resolve problems effectively.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry trends and advancements in water treatment technologies.
• Engage with the community to promote awareness and understanding of water management practices and environmental stewardship.
• Support the planning and execution of capital projects related to water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment operations, with a strong understanding of treatment processes and technologies.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams in a technical environment.
• Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and standards applicable to water treatment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions quickly.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
• Proficiency in using monitoring and control systems, as well as standard office software for reporting and documentation.
• Valid certification in water treatment and/or wastewater treatment operations is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a proactive and positive attitude.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with project management in the context of water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Familiarity with advanced treatment technologies, such as membrane filtration or biological treatment processes.
• Previous experience in a remote or northern work environment, understanding the unique challenges and considerations.
