About the role
You will act as a trusted legal advisor embedded directly within the operational fabric of a fast-scaling tech marketplace. Your primary focus will be on de-risking the company's commercial activities across multiple jurisdictions, with a special emphasis on the nuances of the online travel agency model. You will own the end-to-end management of commercial contracts, ensuring that legal considerations are integrated seamlessly into product development and go-to-market strategies. This role demands a proactive mindset where you anticipate legal hurdles and construct practical, business-aligned solutions before they escalate. You will be instrumental in navigating the complex interplay between consumer protection laws and digital commerce regulations. Ultimately, your work will directly enable the growth and international ambitions of the platform by providing clear, actionable legal guidance.

What you'll do
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide spectrum of commercial agreements, partnership contracts, and terms of service to protect the company's interests and foster scalable growth.
Interpret and analyze complex regulations specific to e-commerce, digital services, and transportation, translating legal jargon into practical steps for non-legal stakeholders.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, providing clear and timely advice that allows product and business initiatives to move forward without legal friction.
Manage the full lifecycle of litigation and pre-litigation matters, from initial assessment and strategy development through to resolution and post-resolution review.
Collaborate closely with the government relations team to monitor legislative changes and actively respond to regulatory inquiries and consultations.
Develop and maintain robust legal playbooks and operational procedures that standardize compliance across diverse markets and business units.
Conduct in-depth risk assessments for new product features, partnerships, and market entries, identifying mitigation strategies to avoid future liability.
Act as a bridge between the technical product team and legal compliance, ensuring that data privacy, consumer rights, and platform governance are embedded in product design.
Monitor and advise on competition law implications related to pricing, promotions, and marketplace dynamics to ensure strict adherence to EU and national regulations.
Own the documentation and contractual framework necessary for the company's OTA activities, ensuring adherence to industry-specific rules across all operating countries.
Drive process improvement within the legal function, implementing efficient workflows and project management techniques to handle high volumes of requests.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members or stakeholders on legal best practices, fostering a culture of compliance and diligence.
Evaluate new technologies and business models from a legal perspective, providing forward-looking counsel on potential regulatory challenges and opportunities.
Maintain a detailed understanding of case law and regulatory updates relevant to digital platforms, applying this knowledge to shape the company's strategic decisions.
Requirements
You must hold a qualification as a lawyer with a minimum of 6 to 8 years of post-qualification experience, demonstrating a proven track record in a dynamic environment.
You possess substantial experience working within start-ups or technology-driven companies, where agility and business acumen are essential.
You have a demonstrated history of handling complex commercial issues, particularly in the realms of e-commerce, platform regulation, and consumer protection.
You are fully comfortable operating across multiple legal jurisdictions, adapting your approach to fit the specific requirements of different markets.
You have a strong mastery of contract drafting and negotiation, producing precise and enforceable legal documents under pressure.
You are a business-oriented professional who thinks creatively to solve problems while remaining firmly grounded in legal principles.
You have significant experience in creating, implementing, and managing large-scale projects that drive organizational change.
You exhibit a high degree of autonomy, taking initiative and ownership of your work without constant supervision.
You have the ability to work rapidly and efficiently, consistently meeting aggressive deadlines without compromising quality.

You hold full professional working proficiency in both English and French, which are non-negotiable requirements for this role.
