Engineering Manager Post-Booking Squad
Job description
About the role
The post-booking phase defines the traveler's peace of mind after booking confirmation, and as Engineering Manager of this squad you will own the end-to-end delivery of this critical experience. You will lead a diverse team of frontend and backend engineers to build a scalable and reliable "After-Book" platform that unifies services for carpool, bus, and train. Your mission is to drive BlaBlaCar's transformation into a global marketplace by enabling a seamless, trustworthy, and transparent journey from payment completion to final arrival. You will work hand-in-hand with a Product Manager, a Product Designer, and the Data team to define the vision and execute the roadmap. In this role, you will foster a culture of technical excellence across the organization while ensuring that digital tickets, ride plans, and modifications are managed with precision and reliability.

What you'll do
You will set the technical direction alongside product and design partners and define a roadmap that balances ambition with practical delivery. You will design architectures for tickets, plans, and modification flows to ensure clarity across bus, train, and carpool services. You will build cross-team rituals and coordinate sprints so that performance, stability, and scalability remain aligned over time. You will guide frontend and backend specialists, mentoring teams while maintaining high craftsmanship standards in all deliverables. You will drive operational discipline by introducing tooling and automation that removes friction for the entire squad. You will implement observability and testing practices that protect the traveler experience at every stage of the post-booking journey. You will partner with data experts to validate hypotheses and refine behaviors based on real user signals and business outcomes. You will support the global vision by unifying post-booking services into one high-performance backbone for all markets. You will prioritize deliverables based on business objectives and provide regular updates to stakeholders on squad progress. You will act as the primary engineering advisor to Product Managers and business stakeholders across OTA, Bus, Train, and Carpool.

You must demonstrate problem-solving resilience by delivering results in high-stakes environments and prioritizing high-value tasks without losing momentum. You must apply agile mastery by guiding Scrum or Kanban processes that respect both pace and quality in fast-moving contexts. If you do not meet all the listed qualifications, you are still encouraged to apply by explaining why you would be a strong candidate in your submission. You should easily bridge business, compliance, and engineering constraints to ensure alignment across teams. You must show a proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain focus on long-term technical strategy. You are expected to mentor and develop engineers through regular feedback and thoughtful career planning initiatives.
Nice to have
Experience with marketplace models and regulatory demands will strengthen your contributions to this journey and help you navigate complex operational requirements. Familiarity with the nuances of post-booking flows in transportation networks will allow you to anticipate edge cases and design more robust solutions. Understanding data-driven decision making and experimentation practices will help you refine the roadmap based on measurable outcomes. Experience working in a fully remote or hybrid environment with internationally distributed teams will support effective collaboration across the 5 global offices. Knowledge of BlaBlaCar's carpool, bus, and train products will enable faster integration with existing services and smoother cross-squad alignment.
