About the role
We are seeking a Director of Developer Productivity to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our engineering teams. This role is responsible for designing and implementing strategies that streamline developer workflows and remove obstacles across the software lifecycle. The successful hire will own the end-to-end productivity of engineering teams by introducing tools, standards, and best practices that accelerate delivery. You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align on goals and ensure developers have the resources needed to succeed. The position requires a data-driven mindset to measure impact and continuously refine the developer experience. You will lead initiatives that foster collaboration and enable high-performing, autonomous teams. This role is critical in building a scalable foundation that supports innovation and long-term growth.

What you'll do
- Architect and deploy productivity solutions that optimize the full developer lifecycle from onboarding to deployment.
- Partner with engineering leadership to map current workflows and uncover opportunities for efficiency gains.
- Define and track key productivity metrics to evaluate the success of tools, processes, and team initiatives.
- Evaluate, pilot, and implement developer tools that enhance speed, quality, and predictability in software delivery.
- Drive standardization across teams by establishing best practices for coding, testing, and deployment pipelines.
- Collaborate with product and platform teams to integrate productivity features that reduce manual effort and context switching.
- Lead cross-functional working groups to align on productivity goals and ensure adoption of new standards.
- Mentor engineers and productivity specialists to build a strong internal capability for process improvement.
- Analyze usage data from development tools to identify friction points and prioritize impactful enhancements.
- Champion a culture of experimentation by setting up feedback loops and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Coordinate with security and compliance to ensure productivity initiatives meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing through documentation, workshops, and internal training sessions.
Requirements
- Hold a minimum of 7 years of cumulative experience in software development or engineering management.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of implementing productivity tools and processes in a software development environment.
- Show strong understanding of Agile methodologies and software development life cycles in practice.
- Exhibit excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with diverse stakeholders.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Bring experience leading and scaling developer productivity programs in a growing organization.
- Display a history of making data-driven decisions to guide investments in tooling and process.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and ownership when navigating ambiguity and complex dependencies.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and modern DevOps tooling.
- Prior work with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure in designing scalable infrastructure.
- Practical knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
Skills & tools
- Demonstrate proficiency in core developer tools such as Jira, Git, and CI/CD pipeline systems.
- Bring experience with performance monitoring and analytics platforms to measure developer outcomes.
- Show familiarity with API integrations, automation frameworks, and infrastructure as code practices.
Practical notes
This position is open to candidates who require visa sponsorship. We offer a competitive salary range of $150,000 to $180,000, along with comprehensive benefits.
