Global Supply Manager

About the role

Base is on the lookout for a Global Supply Manager who will take charge of managing commercial partnerships with contract manufacturers focused on electromechanical top-level assemblies. This position entails overseeing the complete delivered cost of finished products, which encompasses labor and added value, throughout the entire manufacturing ecosystem. As Base continues to grow its operational capacity, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that standards for cost, delivery, and a multi-source assembly network remain consistent.

What you'll do

• Oversee the management of commercial contracts with all contract manufacturers involved in assembling Base products, which includes master services agreements, statements of work, and commitments regarding capacity.
• Create and sustain should-cost models for assemblies, detailing labor, overhead, and profit margins to facilitate continuous cost reductions year over year.
• Lead the RFx (Request for Proposal) process from the initial stages of scoping through to the awarding of contracts for both new and existing manufacturers.
• Manage the commercial elements of configuration control and engineering change management, including negotiations related to costs for engineering modifications and tooling.
• Ensure that suppliers are adequately prepared for production increases by managing lead times, manufacturing footprint, and overall capacity.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Manufacturing Technical Program Management teams to evaluate the balance between in-house production and outsourcing, establishing appropriate commercial frameworks.
• Offer clear and actionable recommendations regarding contract manufacturer selections, contract structures, cost assessments, and supply chain continuity to various stakeholders.
• Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements within the supply chain.
• Conduct regular performance reviews of contract manufacturers to ensure compliance with agreed-upon standards and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and implement strategies for risk management within the supply chain, ensuring that potential disruptions are addressed proactively.
• Engage in cross-functional teams to align supply chain strategies with broader company objectives and initiatives.
• Prepare and present reports on supply chain performance metrics to senior management, highlighting achievements and areas for development.

Requirements

• Proven experience in sourcing and managing top-level assemblies through contract manufacturers.
• Understanding of labor cost structures, value-add negotiations, and total delivered costs across various commodity bills of material.
• A minimum of 5 years in a similar sourcing or supply chain role.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate labor rates, value-add components, non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs, and configuration change cost recovery with contract manufacturers.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling techniques.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on clarity and directness.
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and navigate through ambiguity.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 30% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience working with Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) or managing relationships with contract manufacturers in sectors such as electric vehicles, energy storage, consumer electronics, or industrial hardware.
• A track record of successfully resolving escalations with contract manufacturers at the executive level.
• Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems, including Odoo, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.

Skills & tools

• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and financial modeling.
• Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems such as Odoo, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite for supply chain management and reporting.
