About the role

The Associate Medical Editor operates within the Research & Development department in Berlin, working in a hybrid setting with full-time engagement. You will plan, develop, write, and review medical content that serves students in the US market with precision and clarity. What you'll do

• Conduct risk assessments for medical content, define root causes for inaccuracies, and close the loop through follow-up reviews and system-level improvements.
• Synthesize user feedback and new evidence-based guidelines to update and refresh existing content, ensuring ongoing relevance for the US student market.
• Master the Amboss content management system to structure text, images, and videos so that high-quality medical QBank items are produced consistently.
• Use low-code automation and retrieval-augmented generation tools with human oversight to streamline routine editorial tasks while safeguarding quality.
• Build and apply agentic AI skills to prototype and refine new educational workflows and products that serve US students effectively.
• Lead evidence gathering, interpret clinical literature and medical society guidelines, and translate findings into clear, didactic explanations for learners.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align content changes with product goals, regulatory expectations, and user needs.
• Communicate updates, rationales, and decisions through concise documentation and collaborative discussions that maintain transparency.
• Maintain intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in agentic AI tools, shaping editorial experiments and validating outputs for accuracy and usability.
• Ensure all work meets full-time or near-full-time availability expectations, with at least 30 hours per week dedicated to Amboss priorities.
• Design and iteratively improve learning pathways, leveraging data and learner behavior to enhance comprehension and retention.
• Translate ambiguous user needs into concrete editorial requirements and collaborate with engineers on implementation details.
• Monitor the performance of published content, identify gaps, and initiate updates based on evolving standards and user analytics.
• Contribute to long-term content strategy by documenting best practices, patterns, and knowledge that scale across topics and formats.
• Act as a subject matter liaison between clinical experts, product managers, and the editorial team to ensure cohesive output.

Requirements

• Hold an MD or DO degree, with USMLE or COMLEX experience preferred.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Show high agency, creativity, and problem-solving skills in day-to-day editorial work.
• Exhibit genuine curiosity about AI tools and a willingness to experiment within human oversight.
• Be familiar with the AMBOSS platform, ideally as a current or previous user.
• Proficient in finding, selecting, and interpreting clinical literature and medical society guidelines.
• Maintain a didactic mindset focused on how students learn and retain medical knowledge.
• Stay knowledgeable or curious about emerging tools and resources in US medical education.
• Be available full-time or near-full-time, at least 30 hours per week.
• Be located in Germany or willing to relocate to Germany.
• Have experience creating educational content, using LLM tools, or building AI-supported workflows as a plus.
• Possess digital literacy or technological proficiency, such as basic computer science skills, as a plus.
• Understand the importance of compliance and privacy considerations when handling medical information.
• Commit to continuous learning and actively incorporate feedback from peers and stakeholders.
