Embedded/Hardware Developer
Job description
About the role
The Embedded/Hardware Developer position at Ajax Systems represents a critical role within the Prod Automation Department, which is responsible for supporting the stability of mass production and expanding production capabilities at new locations across Europe. As the largest manufacturer of security systems in Europe, Ajax Systems relies on this department to develop unified platforms, establish technical standards, and define requirements for both development and production teams. The primary objectives include optimizing processes, enhancing equipment uptime, minimizing redundant testing, and strategically reducing production costs. This role is fundamental to achieving those goals through the design and maintenance of the electronic systems that drive large-scale manufacturing.
The position demands a high level of expertise in handling complex electronic systems where precision in analog signal processing is the critical parameter for overall system accuracy. Success in this role requires the ability to write low-level firmware for diverse microcontroller architectures, ensuring deterministic behavior in safety-critical environments. The developer will also be responsible for creating software for PCs and single-board computers, operating within domains such as digital signal processing, peripheral drivers, high-level logic for distributed applications, and interaction with graphical user interfaces. Close collaboration with mechanical engineers is essential to translate physical constraints into robust electronic designs, followed by thorough verification and debugging of the assembled hardware. The role concludes with authoring detailed technical documentation to support manufacturing and maintenance activities.
What you'll do
Investigate and analyze system requirements to translate abstract product specifications into concrete electronic schematics and firmware modules.
Design and implement embedded software for microcontrollers, ensuring efficient use of memory and real-time performance for critical control loops.
Develop applications for PC and single-board computer platforms using QML for graphical interfaces and database systems for persistent storage.
Create drivers for peripheral devices and network protocols to enable seamless communication between hardware components and central systems.
Perform debugging of digital signal processing algorithms and analog circuits to meet strict accuracy and stability criteria.
Work closely with construction engineers to prototype and iterate on specialized equipment mechanics through hardware integration.
Conduct comprehensive verification and testing of electronic boards and integrated devices to identify and resolve functional defects.
Document the operation and integration procedures of developed electronics to support manufacturing and maintenance activities.
Optimize production workflows by minimizing redundant tests and improving the mean time between failures of manufacturing equipment.
Implement low-level firmware that manages hardware resources and interfaces with sensors and actuators in industrial settings.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align hardware development timelines with production scaling objectives.
Refine system performance by optimizing power consumption and thermal management of embedded devices.
Ensure all deliverables comply with internal technical standards and regulatory requirements for production hardware.
Drive the realization of hardware prototypes from concept design through to functional validation and handover to production.
