What you'll do

• Prepare various types of samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring adherence to established protocols and procedures.
• Accurately label and document samples to maintain traceability and compliance with quality standards.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment used in the sample preparation process, ensuring that all tools are functioning correctly.
• Conduct preliminary tests on samples to identify any anomalies or issues before they are sent for further analysis.
• Collaborate with laboratory technicians and scientists to understand specific sample requirements and adjust preparation methods accordingly.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following all safety and health regulations to promote a safe working environment.
• Assist in the inventory management of laboratory supplies, ensuring that all necessary materials are available for sample preparation.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay updated on best practices and new technologies in sample preparation.
• Document all preparation processes and results in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) for accurate record-keeping.
• Support the quality assurance team by providing feedback on sample preparation processes and suggesting improvements.
• Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the sample preparation process and work towards effective solutions.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the sample preparation workflow.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in sample preparation or a related field.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and quality control measures.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
• Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and tools, including balances, centrifuges, and pipettes.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with data entry and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A relevant qualification in a scientific discipline, such as chemistry, biology, or environmental science, is preferred.

• Experience in a quality control or assurance role within a laboratory environment.
• Knowledge of specific sample preparation techniques relevant to our industry, such as soil, water, or air sampling.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards in laboratory operations.
