Key facts
What you'll do
- Generate comprehensive financial statements, which include balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for a variety of real estate assets.
- Oversee the maintenance of general ledger entries and support the month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of multiple accounts, addressing and resolving any discrepancies that arise.
- Assist in the formulation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, providing variance analyses to track financial performance.
- Monitor and report on expenses related to properties, including capital expenditures, rent collections, and tenant deposits.
- Manage the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely invoice processing and effective vendor management.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations as well as adherence to internal policies and procedures.
- Facilitate both internal and external audits by preparing and organizing the necessary documentation.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement in accounting practices and financial controls, suggesting actionable solutions.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the real estate, property management, or investment sectors.
- A solid understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and the nuances of real estate accounting.
Nice to have
- CPA or a similar professional certification.
- Experience working with a Big 4 accounting firm, which can provide a strong foundation in accounting principles and practices.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, and RealPage.
- Familiarity with Claude and ChatGPT for enhanced workflow and productivity.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, to manage and analyze financial data effectively.
Practical notes
- The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST.
- This role is entirely remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within the LATAM region.
