About the role
You will guide architecture and execution on greenfield initiatives while leading a distributed engineering team. The position supports Addepar's platform strategy for finance through hands-on technical leadership. You will own the technical vision and delivery for data and infrastructure initiatives that enable the platform. This role requires you to translate business objectives into technical roadmaps and prioritize work for an agile team. You will mentor engineers, facilitate design discussions, and ensure high standards of code quality and reliability. Collaboration with product and operations will be central to aligning technology with enterprise needs. You will remove blockers, manage dependencies, and foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

You will evaluate and select technologies to future-proof the platform and reduce technical debt.
The position requires balancing strategic planning with hands-on implementation and code contributions.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
At least five years of professional experience is required.
Direct work with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code (for example Terraform) on AWS is required.
Deep technical knowledge of Java or Python and datastores such as DynamoDB, Postgres, and MySQL is required.
Understanding of systems design and distributed processing through technologies such as Apache Spark, Databricks, or Snowflake is a plus.
Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka or AWS Kinesis or similar is a plus.
Ability to work legally in the United Kingdom without sponsorship is required from day one.
Experience leading agile software teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to articulate technical concepts clearly.
