3Pillar Global is on the lookout for a Senior Python Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in Costa Rica. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing software products that enhance digital business results. Your responsibilities will include devising strategies for data acquisition from scientific laboratory instruments, crafting custom parsers for various file types, and establishing scalable data pipelines. This position is vital for delivering client-facing products within an organization that emphasizes AI transformation and enterprise-level product development.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Innovate and refine methods for gathering research data from various scientific laboratory instruments.
- Develop and implement custom file parsers that can handle a range of output formats, including .xlsx, .pdf, .txt, .raw, .fid, and proprietary vendor binaries.
- Construct data models, scalable data pipelines, and ensure the creation of unit and integration tests along with reusable utility libraries.
- Examine datasets from similar instruments or workflows to create shared and extensible components for data models.
- Generate visual representations, reports, and interactive dashboards utilizing tools such as Streamlit, Tableau, and Jupyter Notebook.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of data solutions into existing systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring data integrity and quality throughout the process.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously enhance the data engineering practices within the organization.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar capacity.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL in data-centric applications.
- Excellent communication skills paired with a keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to take charge of project delivery and meet deadlines.
- Aptitude for quickly understanding complex technical products and effectively communicating with product management and engineering teams.
- Experience with data modeling and data analysis techniques in a scientific context is highly desirable.
Nice to have
- A genuine interest in tackling data challenges and leveraging AI and LLM methodologies to devise innovative solutions.
- A degree in biology, chemistry, or a related discipline, or at least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors focusing on scientific data engineering, data modeling, or analytics.
- Familiarity with DevOps methodologies in cloud environments.
- Some exposure to React for front-end development.
- Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools, specifically Streamlit, Tableau, and Jupyter Notebook.
