Your responsibilities will include devising strategies for data acquisition from scientific laboratory instruments, crafting custom parsers for various file types, and establishing scalable data pipelines. What you'll do

• Innovate and refine methods for gathering research data from various scientific laboratory instruments.
• Develop and implement custom file parsers that can handle a range of output formats, including .xlsx, .pdf, .txt, .raw, .fid, and proprietary vendor binaries.
• Construct data models, scalable data pipelines, and ensure the creation of unit and integration tests along with reusable utility libraries.
• Examine datasets from similar instruments or workflows to create shared and extensible components for data models.
• Generate visual representations, reports, and interactive dashboards utilizing tools such as Streamlit, Tableau, and Jupyter Notebook.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of data solutions into existing systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring data integrity and quality throughout the process.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously enhance the data engineering practices within the organization.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar capacity.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL in data-centric applications.
• Excellent communication skills paired with a keen attention to detail.
• Proven ability to take charge of project delivery and meet deadlines.
• Aptitude for quickly understanding complex technical products and effectively communicating with product management and engineering teams.
• Experience with data modeling and data analysis techniques in a scientific context is highly desirable.

Nice to have

• A genuine interest in tackling data challenges and leveraging AI and LLM methodologies to devise innovative solutions.
• A degree in biology, chemistry, or a related discipline, or at least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors focusing on scientific data engineering, data modeling, or analytics.
• Familiarity with DevOps methodologies in cloud environments.
• Some exposure to React for front-end development.
• Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools, specifically Streamlit, Tableau, and Jupyter Notebook.
