About the role
Bamboohr is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team in London, Ontario. This full-time position offers an to contribute to the development and maintenance of our infrastructure and deployment processes. As a key member of our engineering team, you will work closely with software developers and IT staff to streamline operations and enhance the efficiency of our systems. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality software solutions while ensuring reliability and scalability.

What you'll do
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the software delivery process, ensuring rapid and reliable deployments.
- Collaborate with development teams to understand application requirements and translate them into effective infrastructure solutions.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain optimal uptime and reliability of applications and services.
- Implement and manage cloud-based infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, optimizing resources for cost and performance.
- Develop and maintain configuration management scripts using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to ensure consistency across environments.
- Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure processes, deployment procedures, and operational guidelines to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
- Conduct regular security assessments and implement best practices to safeguard our systems and data from potential threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of new features and services into existing systems.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems and respond to incidents in a timely manner.
- Continuously evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance our DevOps practices and improve overall efficiency.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team.
- Engage in agile development practices, participating in sprint planning and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a DevOps or systems engineering role, with a strong understanding of software development lifecycles.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby to automate tasks and streamline processes.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their respective services, including compute, storage, and networking.
- Strong knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git, and experience with branching strategies and workflows.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar technologies.
Nice to have
- Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, etc.) are a plus.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA or Trello for project management.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Previous experience in a startup environment or fast-paced tech company is advantageous.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Familiarity with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and their deployment in cloud environments.
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards relevant to cloud infrastructure.
- Strong analytical skills to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.

- This position is based in London, Ontario, and may require occasional travel for team meetings or conferences.
