What you'll do

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the software delivery process, ensuring rapid and reliable deployments.
• Collaborate with development teams to understand application requirements and translate them into effective infrastructure solutions.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain optimal uptime and reliability of applications and services.
• Implement and manage cloud-based infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, optimizing resources for cost and performance.
• Develop and maintain configuration management scripts using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to ensure consistency across environments.
• Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure processes, deployment procedures, and operational guidelines to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
• Conduct regular security assessments and implement best practices to safeguard our systems and data from potential threats.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of new features and services into existing systems.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems and respond to incidents in a timely manner.
• Continuously evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance our DevOps practices and improve overall efficiency.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team.
• Engage in agile development practices, participating in sprint planning and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a DevOps or systems engineering role, with a strong understanding of software development lifecycles.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby to automate tasks and streamline processes.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their respective services, including compute, storage, and networking.
• Strong knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git, and experience with branching strategies and workflows.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar technologies.

Nice to have

• Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, etc.) are a plus.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA or Trello for project management.
• Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
• Previous experience in a startup environment or fast-paced tech company is advantageous.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Familiarity with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and their deployment in cloud environments.
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards relevant to cloud infrastructure.
• Strong analytical skills to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.

Practical notes

• This position is based in London, Ontario, and may require occasional travel for team meetings or conferences.
