Zocdoc is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Frontend Platform & Mobile team. This position is in shaping the user experience for millions of patients and healthcare providers. You will oversee the engineering efforts behind our accessible React component library and design system, which are essential for delivering high-quality web and mobile experiences. Collaborating closely with UX, Product, and Engineering leaders, you will drive the adoption of these tools, enhance frontend and mobile development, and establish accessibility as a core engineering principle.

What you'll do

• Lead and manage a team of frontend engineers, focusing on design systems, accessible component libraries, and frontend platform tooling.
• Develop and maintain the strategy and roadmap for Zocdoc's design system and accessible React component library, ensuring it serves as the foundation for all product teams.
• Promote accessibility across Zocdoc's web and mobile platforms by establishing standardized planning, development, and quality assurance processes.
• Collaborate with UX, Product, and Engineering teams to create a scalable and mobile-responsive component library that functions across web and native mobile platforms.
• Identify and implement platform enhancements that significantly accelerate frontend and mobile development across the organization.
• Work alongside Product, UX, and Analytics to research, prioritize roadmaps, and establish a clear technical direction.
• Mentor and guide engineers at various levels, fostering their skills in React.js and related frontend and mobile technologies.
• generative AI tools and technologies to enhance development speed, optimize engineering workflows, and elevate team output.
• Define technical strategies that emphasize scalability, developer experience, and ease of collaboration across teams.
• Contribute to Zocdoc's engineering culture by shaping career paths, supporting cross-team initiatives, participating in interviews, and promoting a more inclusive technology workforce.

Requirements

• Demonstrated leadership experience in shared UI infrastructure, including shipping a design system as a reliable cross-platform foundation and driving its adoption among web and mobile teams.
• Strong frontend platform expertise combined with cross-functional influence, along with sufficient mobile knowledge to unify web, iOS, and Android directions without favoring one platform.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a solid grounding in frontend technologies such as React, TypeScript, and JavaScript, as well as experience in mobile development (iOS or Android).
• At least 2 years of experience in leading and inspiring engineering teams.
• Proven experience in building or contributing to a design system or shared component library utilized by multiple product teams.
• A track record of developing polished, well-tested, and accessible consumer products for both web and mobile platforms.
• Ability to integrate generative AI tools into everyday workflows to automate tasks and enhance productivity.
• Excellent communication skills, enabling you to keep stakeholders informed, transparently manage competing priorities, and build consensus among engineers.
• An entrepreneurial mindset with a strong inclination toward taking action.
• A respectful approach to all individuals, treating everyone with dignity, and handling difficult conversations with empathy.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience with performance optimization techniques in frontend development.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience in leading teams in an Agile environment.
• Knowledge of additional frontend frameworks or libraries beyond React.
• Experience with backend technologies or understanding of full-stack development.
