About the role
Zocdoc is on the lookout for a Staff Analytics Engineer to become part of a centralized team dedicated to building and maintaining a scalable analytics framework that meets our strategic analytics, operational, and reporting requirements. In this senior role, you will be responsible for developing intricate data transformations and production-level data models, creating standardized datasets that support essential decision-making processes across the organization.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement reliable datasets and analytics solutions that empower data users to quickly extract insights at scale.
- Spearhead projects aimed at enhancing self-service analytics throughout the organization by providing advanced administration and training for analytics platforms like Looker and Amplitude.
- Collaborate with analysts, product managers, and engineers to ensure that the analytics infrastructure remains flexible, , and maintainable in response to evolving business needs.
- Design and create production-quality data transformations and models utilizing SQL, DBT, and Dagster, ensuring they are optimized for both performance and reliability.
- Partner closely with data engineering teams on strategic initiatives to improve data ingestion, processing pipelines, and the integration of new data sources.
- Set and continuously improve standards for data governance, security, privacy, quality, and retention, advocating for best practices throughout the organization.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance the analytical capabilities of team members across various departments.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of analytics solutions, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal functionality.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in analytics and data engineering, applying this knowledge to improve existing processes.
- Mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to align analytics initiatives with broader organizational goals and objectives.
- Contribute to the documentation of analytics processes, ensuring clarity and accessibility for future reference.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of practical experience with DBT & DBT Core, along with a comprehensive understanding of data modeling and warehousing principles.
- Strong skills in writing efficient SQL, especially in cloud-based data warehouses such as Snowflake, and adept in Looker development, with a focus on LookML modeling and project design.
- Experience managing data visualization platforms (e.g., Looker) and event-driven analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude).
- Proven ability to navigate complex challenges and work effectively in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and business audiences, with the capability to influence and build consensus.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Familiarity with Dagster or similar orchestration tools for data workflows.
- Experience utilizing AI Codegen to improve workflow efficiency.
- Understanding of data governance principles, KPI management, and supporting data operations for business intelligence initiatives.

- Familiarity with additional data visualization tools or platforms beyond Looker.

- The salary range for this position in New York City is between $180,000 and $250,000, contingent upon experience and qualifications.
