About the role
You will lead the design and implementation of multi-service features that span lending, insurance, and compliance domains. You will act as a technical leader on your squad, influencing both the architecture and the delivery practices of adjacent teams. You will own end-to-end testing strategies, drive systemic reliability improvements, and serve as the incident commander for medium-severity production events. You will author insightful postmortems and translate them into concrete, systemic fixes that prevent recurrence. You will mentor and sponsor engineers across multiple teams, elevating the overall technical bar.

What you'll do
- Lead the design and implementation of multi-service features and systems that touch credit, compliance, and user experiences.
- Define and enforce testing strategies across the stack, ensuring coverage from unit through contract and end-to-end tests.
- Act as incident commander for medium-severity production incidents, coordinating response and driving resolution.
- Author postmortems and drive systemic fixes that address root causes and process gaps.
- Serve as technical lead for projects, aligning cross-functional partners including product, design, and operations.
- Mentor and sponsor engineers across teams, providing guidance on architecture, code quality, and career growth.
- Deliver initiatives that measurably improve predictability, throughput, and system resilience.
- Collaborate with data and analytics partners to instrument key workflows and validate outcomes through data.
- Champion best practices in security, privacy, and regulatory compliance within the lending domain.
- Continuously evaluate and introduce tools and platforms that enhance developer productivity and system stability.
Requirements
- Expert in a primary language, competent in two or more others.
- Advanced proficiency with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
- Strong experience designing APIs and distributed systems that are scalable and maintainable.
- Mastery of testing best practices and quality standards, including automated testing frameworks and strategies.
- 7+ years of professional software development experience in fast-paced, product-focused environments.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineers beyond your immediate team.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex systems and the ability to navigate ambiguity while delivering results.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and documenting technical decisions.
Nice to have
- Experience with financial services, lending platforms, or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with manufacturing home loan products, insurance, or related compliance workflows.
- Contributions to open source projects or public technical writing that demonstrate thought leadership.
