Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage and maintain the organization's servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure components to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively, implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Collaborate with the IT team to design and implement system upgrades and enhancements that align with business goals.
- Ensure the security of the organization's data and systems by implementing best practices for data protection and disaster recovery.
- Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for the IT team.
- Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Assist in the planning and execution of IT projects, including system migrations and integrations.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations for the IT infrastructure.
- Train and mentor junior IT staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure the organization receives high-quality support and services.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide after-hours support as needed.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their integration into on-premises environments.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices for protecting IT infrastructure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are a plus.
Nice to have
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to streamline administrative tasks.
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server) and their administration.
- Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and tools.
Skills & tools
The ideal candidate will be proficient in a variety of systems administration tools and technologies, including but not limited to:
- Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS)
- Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V
- Networking: Cisco routers and switches, firewalls
- Monitoring Tools: Nagios, Zabbix, or similar
- Backup Solutions: Veeam, Acronis, or equivalent
- Security Tools: Antivirus solutions, intrusion detection systems
