Zartis is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a distributed team focused on solving real business problems within a premium fashion and lifestyle retail environment. The role owns the full lifecycle of software delivery, from initial build through to production operation and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for developing and evolving production services and user interface capabilities in a Self-Contained Systems environment. The position demands strong collaboration and a commitment to an inclusive culture built on trust and innovation. You will work directly on digital solutions that accelerate the client's digital capabilities and drive business growth at scale.

What you'll do
Develop and maintain production services and UI components within a Self-Contained Systems architecture, ensuring end-to-end team ownership.
Design and deliver backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot to create reliable microservices and robust REST APIs.
Build modern frontend experiences by consuming and extending Web Components and design systems to create Vue-based CSR interfaces.
Construct server-side rendered MVC templates and contribute to frontend rendering strategies when business requirements demand it.
Implement event-driven integration patterns using Kafka, with a focus on Kafka Streams, alongside necessary synchronous HTTP integrations.
Apply Domain-Driven Design principles and hexagonal architecture to model complex retail domains and align service boundaries with UI needs.
Engineer for resilience by implementing timeouts, retries, bulkheads, and fallbacks to ensure high reliability and observability in production.
Take shared ownership of quality across the entire software development lifecycle, writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests without a separate QA function.
Operate within an XP and Agile framework, actively participating in pairing, mobbing, continuous refactoring, and frequent releases.
Adopt a "you build it, you run it" mindset by collaborating on CI/CD pipelines, monitoring strategies, incident response, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Possess 8+ years of professional software engineering experience or demonstrate equivalent depth as a Senior Software Engineer III.
Bring backend expertise in Java and Spring Boot for delivering microservices and production-grade REST APIs.
Show strong frontend capability with Web Components, TypeScript, and Vue for SPA and CSR architectures, including SSR and MVC template work.
Demonstrate excellent CSS skills and experience working with Design Systems, including both consuming and contributing shared components.
Adopt an accessibility-first UI development mindset, applying semantic HTML, WCAG basics, and keyboard/screen reader awareness.
Maintain solid SQL and PostgreSQL knowledge, with comfort working in data-driven system environments.
Have hands-on experience with Kafka in distributed systems, where Kafka Streams knowledge is a significant advantage.
Apply Practical experience with Domain-Driven Design and the ability to align service and UI boundaries to domain concepts.
Show experience with or a strong interest in hexagonal and ports-and-adapters architecture, as well as resilience patterns in real-world systems.
Exhibit a production mindset, including understanding of cloud, containerization, continuous deployment, and how frontend assets are built and served, with strong observability habits.
Be comfortable working in XP and Agile teams that utilize pairing, mobbing, continuous refactoring, and frequent releases.
Use Mac as your primary development environment.
Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, remaining friendly, open to feedback, and happy to teach and learn within cross-functional teams.
Show interest in the e-commerce domain and a habit of using AI tools to enhance delivery through coding assistants, analysis, test generation, and UI prototyping or accessibility checks.
Nice to have
Bring experience with Kotlin in production environments.
Work with event-driven or message-based systems that extend beyond core Kafka usage.
Contribute with a background in UX design or possess a strong intuitive sense for user experience.
Develop Flutter app capabilities for cross-platform mobile experiences.
Optimize frontend performance with a focus on bundle size and Core Web Vitals.
