Senior Platform Engineer

About the role

You will evaluate and implement an API gateway solution that becomes the cornerstone of our shared platform strategy. You will consolidate existing pipelines and create a blueprint that defines security standards and best practices for future initiatives. You will apply and transfer API gateway knowledge across multiple cloud providers including AWS, Azure, and GCP to ensure consistency. You will contribute directly to building and operating shared platform capabilities that empower application development teams to deliver faster. You will work on a project in the fashion industry alongside talented people from diverse backgrounds. You will drive business impact by turning complex platform challenges into measurable outcomes for the organization. You will use your experience to make proactive decisions and build software solutions from scratch with strong attention to detail. You will communicate closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to align on objectives and implementation paths.

What you'll do

Lead the evaluation and selection of an API gateway solution that aligns with platform objectives.

Consolidate existing CI/CD pipelines and create a comprehensive blueprint covering security standards and best practices.

Apply and transfer API gateway knowledge and implementation patterns across cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Contribute to the development, operation, and governance of shared platform capabilities for application development teams.

Translate ambiguous business or technical objectives into concrete, implementable platform solutions.

Evaluate technical options, build prototypes, document trade-offs, and present recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Use your hands-on experience to explore incomplete requirements and define the technical path forward.

Take end-to-end ownership of platform initiatives in agile, cross-functional teams without fully specified tickets.

Leverage practical experience with cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability to deliver robust solutions.

Demonstrate excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills with very good English.

Maintain a strong focus on API security, authentication, authorization, traffic management, rate limiting, resilience, service discovery, and observability.

Utilize your broad technical background across application development, cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and platform engineering.

Leverage previous experience building or contributing to an Internal Developer Platform, developer portal, or shared cloud platform.

Show hands-on experience with API gateway technologies such as Kong, Apache APISIX, Envoy, AWS API Gateway, or Azure API Management.

Requirements

You have a broad technical background across application development, cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and platform engineering.

You have previous experience building or contributing to an Internal Developer Platform, developer portal, or shared cloud platform.

You have hands-on experience with API gateway technologies such as Kong, Apache APISIX, Envoy, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or similar.

You have a good understanding of API security, authentication and authorization, traffic management, rate limiting, resilience, service discovery, and observability.

You have practical experience with cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability.

You are able to work exploratively with incomplete requirements and translate business or technical objectives into implementable solutions.

You are experienced evaluating technical options, creating prototypes, documenting trade-offs, and presenting recommendations.

You are used to taking end-to-end ownership in agile, cross-functional teams without fully specified tickets.

You have excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills and very good English.

Nice to have

You have hands-on coding experience in Java or Kotlin.

You have familiarity with cloud functions or serverless services such as AWS Lambda.

You have German language skills.
