Key facts
What you'll do
Client needs drive the design of payment solutions tailored to specific industries and use cases, requiring deep analysis of business problems and technical constraints. Solutions are architected to handle cross-border transactions between Southeast Asia and other regions while maintaining compliance with local regulations and financial standards. Product demonstrations are delivered to both technical and non-technical audiences to support the sales process and influence procurement decisions. Technical responses to RFPs and RFIs are led to address enterprise procurement requirements, often under tight timelines and high stakes. Solution diagrams and integration guides are created to communicate platform capabilities clearly and reduce friction for implementation teams. Clients are guided through sandbox testing and integration planning to accelerate time-to-production and ensure alignment with internal stakeholders. Competitor solutions and regional payment trends in Southeast Asia are tracked to inform product strategy and maintain competitive differentiation. Internal playbooks and knowledge resources are updated to support commercial teams and ensure consistency in messaging and positioning. Sales strategies are developed with account executives to identify growth opportunities and map solutions to long-term customer roadmaps. Solutions knowledge is shared across the global team to scale successful patterns and replicate best practices in new markets.
Requirements
6+ years of experience in a client-facing technical role within payments, fintech, or SaaS environments is required to ensure familiarity with enterprise sales cycles and technical decision-making. Fluency with APIs, webhooks, and SDKs enables clear communication with engineering teams and helps you translate technical constraints into business-friendly explanations. Experience presenting to CTOs and lead engineers is necessary to handle technical objections and earn credibility with senior technical stakeholders. Regional and global enterprise client experience is essential for this position to navigate complex procurement processes and multi stakeholder buying committees. Travel flexibility is required to meet clients and align with internal stakeholders across Southeast Asia and other regions when necessary. A bachelor's degree is required as a baseline qualification for the role, ensuring foundational knowledge in a relevant discipline. Candidates must be able to relocate to or already reside in Singapore to comply with local regulatory and operational requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. The ability to work independently and within cross functional teams is essential in a fast paced, matrixed organization. A customer obsessed mindset and commitment to delivering measurable business outcomes are non negotiable for this role.
Practical notes
This role operates in a multi-country regulatory environment across Southeast Asia, requiring adaptability and strong judgment in interpreting local rules. The successful candidate will work closely with licensed infrastructure teams to ensure solutions are feasible, compliant, and scalable within operational constraints. Typical interview steps for engineering roles usually start with a recruiter screen, followed by one or two technical rounds where candidates are assessed on both technical depth and communication clarity. Candidates often solve a coding problem, discuss past projects in detail, and answer system design questions to demonstrate how they approach real world challenges. Some interview loops include a take-home task to evaluate practical implementation skills and trade off decisions. Final rounds typically cover team fit and give candidates a chance to ask questions about the role, the product, and the impact of their work. Interviewers look for how you break down an unfamiliar problem, not just whether you reach the answer, so demonstrating structured thinking is critical. Practicing a few problems aloud and reviewing your own past projects are the best preparation methods to showcase both technical competence and coaching ability.
Career growth and professional development
Engineering careers usually progress from individual contributor to senior, staff, and principal levels, with increasing ownership of architecture, process, and people. Some engineers move into management and lead teams of five to twenty people, aligning roadmaps, prioritizing work, and developing leadership capabilities. Others stay on the technical track, deepening expertise in payment infrastructure, security, and scalability while contributing to strategic technical decisions. Growth follows demonstrated impact, not tenure alone, meaning consistent delivery, learning, and collaboration are valued over simply completing tasks. A typical engineering ladder has clear levels with defined expectations for scope, quality, mentorship, and influence across cross functional organizations. Moving up usually requires owning outcomes end to end rather than completing assigned tickets, showing that you can drive results and sustain high performance over time.
