Product Compliance Senior Manager
Job description
About the role
Regulatory Product Compliance Senior Manager, Assets APAC
We are seeking a Regulatory Product Compliance Senior Manager to join our expanding Product Compliance team. This role provides direct support to the Assets Product Compliance group in APAC. It is a hands-on position designed for an individual who will significantly influence Wise's mission, develop as a product and compliance leader, and contribute to saving millions of people money.
Your Mission
Wise launched its Assets product in Singapore in 2022, introducing a new account type. This offering expanded to Australia in 2024. Assets enable customers to invest idle funds held with Wise across various asset classes, including stocks and bonds, while preserving the instant spending capability of a checking account.
Your primary mission is to collaborate with product teams based in Singapore and London to enhance our Assets offering in Singapore within a strict compliance framework. This requires a deep comprehension of regulatory obligations and regulator expectations for investment products. You will also assist product teams in developing Assets services in new APAC markets. Operating as a first-line compliance function embedded within the product team, you will ensure all activities align with regulatory standards.
Working alongside global and APAC product leadership, you will be responsible for the following key areas.
Regulatory Risk and Remediation
You will demonstrate an expert-level understanding of the Wise Assets product and regional regulations. You will partner with product and operational teams to interpret regulatory requirements, refine processes, and optimize the product to prevent regulatory breaches or incidents. In conjunction with the Risk and Compliance second line and product management, you will identify primary regulatory risks, existing gaps, and upcoming regulatory changes. You will present this analysis clearly to broader teams and collaborate on defining solutions and executing mitigation plans.
Product Design
You will deeply understand regulatory needs and translate them into actionable solutions. You will work directly with Product Teams to build compliant new products, features, and services centered on customer needs. This involves conducting regulatory analysis for new products and features and implementing necessary controls prior to market launch. You will also identify opportunities to strengthen our product proposition and competitive edge by thoroughly reviewing relevant regulations and questioning established interpretations and market practices.
Third-Party Relationships
You will represent Wise in external meetings, articulating the Assets product vision clearly and effectively. You will provide input on matters with regulatory implications, always upholding Wise's customer-centric culture while ensuring strict adherence to compliance requirements.
Opportunity for Growth
This role offers the chance to rapidly expand your hands-on fintech expertise. You will have the opportunity to build innovative, state-of-the-art products that satisfy both customer needs and regulatory standards. You will work in collaboration with outstanding teams across the globe.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a compliance role within the retail investments, broker-dealer, or capital markets sectors.
- Profound working knowledge of securities regulations in Singapore, such as the Securities and Futures Act enforced by MAS, or the Corporations Act and APRA regulations in Australia.
- Familiarity with the evolving regulatory expectations set by MAS or ASIC/APRA concerning Capital Market firms and, ideally, Payment Services or Electronic Money firms.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively and identify critical areas for regulatory improvement and implementation.
- Proven skill in communicating effectively with Product Managers and Engineers, offering practical, actionable, and value-driven recommendations.
- A problem-solving mindset that leverages regulation and data to guide business decisions.
- A natural sense of ownership, driving projects from initial concept to completion with strong attention to detail and timeliness.
- Willingness to travel, as the core Assets team is primarily based in London.
- Legal authorization to work in Singapore is mandatory.
