About the role
As the Director of Franchise Communications at WildBrain, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing global communication strategies that enhance the visibility and growth of the company's franchise portfolio. This position requires a strategic thinker who can translate business objectives into effective communication programs that engage various audiences, including consumers, trade partners, and corporate stakeholders. You will be the primary communications advisor for assigned franchises, working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with broader business goals.

- Identify and leverage newsworthy opportunities to enhance the impact of franchise campaigns and stimulate meaningful dialogues with consumers and industry partners.
- Oversee proactive and reactive media relations efforts across various sectors, including consumer, entertainment, and trade media.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and industry leaders to enhance WildBrain's media presence.
- Drive executive visibility and thought leadership initiatives that bolster WildBrain's reputation and strategic positioning in the market.
- Lead external agencies and partners, setting clear objectives and performance metrics to ensure successful campaign execution.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Franchise Strategy, Consumer Products, and Marketing, to ensure cohesive communication efforts that support overall business objectives.
- Provide strategic communication guidance during crisis management and reputation-related challenges.
- Establish success metrics and assess campaign performance against business objectives, utilizing insights to refine communication strategies continuously.
Requirements
- Proven experience in developing and executing integrated communication strategies for global consumer brands or entertainment franchises.
- Demonstrated success in leading impactful communication campaigns across diverse audiences, including product launches and brand activations.
- In-depth knowledge of the kids' and family entertainment sector, with a strong understanding of the U.S. market; familiarity with international markets is a plus.
- Exceptional media relations skills with a well-established network across various media sectors, capable of securing high-impact earned media opportunities.
- Strong strategic planning, storytelling, and writing abilities, with experience in coaching senior leaders for media engagements.
- Proven track record of building strategic partnerships and influencing cross-functional teams in complex organizational environments.
- Leadership experience in managing agencies, budgets, and communications teams, with a focus on mentoring junior talent.
- Strong judgment and discretion in handling sensitive communications, with the ability to manage high-profile stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Experience in North American and international markets, particularly in licensing, consumer products, and entertainment ecosystems, is preferred.
