About the role
You will architect and own the end-to-end strategy for WHOOP's global Total Rewards ecosystem, translating business ambition into cohesive compensation, equity, and benefits frameworks. You will design incentive structures that directly link individual and team performance to company outcomes, ensuring alignment at scale. You will act as the central expert on rewards data, market positioning, and regulatory constraints, turning complexity into clear governance. You will mentor and elevate the capabilities of the broader People and Finance partners through clear standards and playbooks. You will ensure every rewards decision reinforces WHOOP's culture of excellence, accountability, and scientific rigor. You will lead the continuous evaluation of programs to maximize retention, performance, and equity of experience. You will serve as the primary liaison to the Board and Compensation Committee on all matters related to executive and enterprise reward philosophy. You will champion the ethical and responsible use of AI in designing, testing, and optimizing rewards mechanisms.

What you'll do
Architect a global Total Rewards philosophy and long-term roadmap that balances growth, equity, and operational excellence across all markets.
Define and evolve compensation structures, including base salary bands, equity programs, variable pay, sales incentives, and executive reward strategies.
Translate workforce analytics and market data into actionable insights that guide pay decisions, pay equity adjustments, and competitive positioning.
Design governance frameworks and processes for compensation planning, approvals, and annual reviews to ensure consistency and compliance.
Partner with Finance to model compensation costs, forecast headcount investments, and align reward strategies with financial targets.
Lead the selection, configuration, and oversight of HRIS and compensation management systems to automate and streamline processes.
Champion compliance with local and international compensation laws, reporting standards, and governance requirements in every operating region.
Prepare comprehensive materials for the Board and Compensation Committee, including proposals, analyses, and justifications for reward programs.
Advise executive leadership on the strategic implications of compensation and benefits decisions during high-stakes decisions and transformation initiatives.
Champion the integration of AI tools into rewards workflows, using technology to improve accuracy, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
Develop and refine recognition and non-monetary reward programs that reinforce desired behaviors and support employee engagement at scale.
Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to design offer strategies and total reward positioning that help secure top talent in competitive markets.
Own the continuous measurement of reward program effectiveness, using feedback, retention, and performance data to iterate and improve.
Establish clear policies, documentation, and training to enable managers at all levels to administer rewards consistently and fairly.
Drive periodic audits and insights reviews to identify misalignment, risk, or opportunity within the total rewards ecosystem.
Lead cross-functional initiatives that impact rewards, such as workforce planning, diversity goals, and global mobility programs.
Serve as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders, providing education and guidance on compensation rules, equity grants, and benefits design.
Ensure that all reward strategies reflect WHOOP's values of transparency, fairness, and data-backed decision-making.
Requirements
Bring 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience in Total Rewards, Compensation, or a related People function.
Possess deep expertise in designing and managing both broad-based compensation and equity programs for large organizations.
Have direct experience developing and managing Total Rewards initiatives for a global workforce across multiple regions and regulatory environments.
Demonstrate a proven track record of building and scaling compensation infrastructure, systems, governance models, and operational processes.
Have prior experience partnering with executive leadership teams, Boards of Directors, and Compensation Committees on compensation strategy and oversight.
Show strong business acumen, with the ability to connect Total Rewards strategies to company performance, talent outcomes, and long-term growth objectives.
Exhibit exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, using data and market insights to influence decisions and drive measurable outcomes.
Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and organizational change while building strong partnerships across a wide range of stakeholders.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.

Experience advising Boards or Compensation Committees on complex compensation matters.
Familiarity with AI-driven analytics and tools used in compensation and workforce planning.
Practical notes
This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
