About the role

You will act as a native Spanish authority who confirms that accessibility survives translation intact and functions as intended for Spanish-speaking users. This role owns the in-language validation of digital content, ensuring that translated accessibility elements are accurate, understandable, and culturally appropriate. You will review web pages, applications, and documents through the lens of a Spanish speaker using assistive technology. Your work ensures that localized content meets global accessibility commitments for Spanish audiences. You will collaborate with internal QA teams to align findings with standards and user expectations. This position is responsible for verifying that hidden elements, tooltips, and error messages are not only accessible but read naturally aloud. Every finding you submit contributes to a more inclusive experience for Spanish users across digital channels.

What you'll do

Validate language codes in HTML and PDF metadata while detecting mixed-language content that lacks proper language declarations.

Conduct in-language screen reader testing using Spanish-compatible tools such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, or Narrator to assess translated accessible text.

Review alt text, tooltips, error messages, hidden elements, and UI labels for accuracy, natural phrasing, and clarity when read aloud in Spanish.

Evaluate captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions for linguistic accuracy, synchronization, and natural flow in the target language.

Confirm that multimedia controls are properly labeled and function correctly within the Spanish locale.

Log detailed defects using WCAG and PDF/UA references, supported by screenshots, recordings, and severity classifications.

Participate in review calls with the QA Lead to discuss findings, clarify issues, and align on remediation expectations.

Assess content from a native-speaker accessibility perspective, prioritizing real-world usability over purely technical compliance.

Verify that interactive elements are reachable and understandable through assistive technology in Spanish.

Support content teams by highlighting areas where translation or formatting negatively impacts accessibility for Spanish screen reader users.

Perform testing across a defined scope that includes web pages, applications, and documents assigned in each engagement.

Maintain familiarity with evolving Digital Accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1, WCAG 2.2, PDF/UA, and EN 301 549.

Communicate testing insights clearly within structured defect logs and tracking systems used by Welocalize.

Adapt testing approach based on project-specific guidelines, checklists, and provided access credentials.

Requirements

You must be a native or near-native speaker of Spanish capable of judging naturalness and clarity in the language.

You must have hands-on, demonstrable experience testing digital content with assistive technology.

You must possess working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and WCAG 2.2 Level AA requirements.

You must understand EN 301 549 and how it applies to European accessibility expectations.

You must be able to evaluate content from a native-speaker accessibility perspective, not only from a technical checklist viewpoint.

You must have reliable access to devices and operating systems representative of the Spanish-speaking market.

You must be comfortable following detailed test checklists and structured defect reporting procedures.

You must be able to work autonomously on project-based assignments with clearly defined scopes and timelines.

Nice to have

Strong written communication skills in English for defect reporting and professional correspondence.

Hands-on experience with PDF accessibility testing using PAC 3 or Adobe Acrobat Pro Accessibility Checker.

Familiarity with internationalization, localization, and translation workflows and how they affect accessibility.

Personal use of assistive technology in your daily life.

Experience reviewing content in multiple locales beyond Spanish.

Practical notes

Work is assigned on a project basis with defined scope, testing checklists, and access credentials provided in advance.

Assignments vary in scope but generally do not include remediation; your role is testing and reporting findings.

No travel is required due to the remote nature of the engagement.

This role is suitable for freelancers located in Europe with reliable remote connectivity.

Deadlines will be communicated per project, and timely delivery of test artifacts is expected.

You are expected to supply your own device and assistive technology setup appropriate for Spanish-language testing.

Commonly used tools include screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, and Narrator, along with native video players for caption review.

Defect logging is typically done in Jira, so familiarity with this system is advantageous.
