What you'll do
- Monitor the status of all office technology to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Execute the full process for support tickets, from initial logging through final resolution and documentation.
- Configure and deploy new hardware, including computers, monitors, and associated peripherals for incoming team members.
- Diagnose and repair faults in Windows and Mac operating systems using advanced troubleshooting methodologies.
- Manage the complete user lifecycle, including creating, modifying, and deactivating accounts within our directory services.
- Install, test, and configure software applications to meet the specific needs of various agency departments.
- Maintain an inventory of all hardware assets and track warranty and replacement cycles for critical equipment.
- Serve as the primary liaison between end-users and the internal technical support framework.
- Perform standard network diagnostics to identify connectivity issues and coordinate with vendors when necessary.
- Implement security protocols, including the installation of updates and the management of antivirus software definitions.
- Preserve the cleanliness and organization of the IT environment, ensuring cables are managed and workspaces are efficient.
- Support the onboarding of new personnel by handling the technical aspects of their initial setup and training.
- Generate detailed reports on common issues to identify trends and propose preventative solutions to management.
- Collaborate with external technology partners to resolve complex issues that exceed internal capabilities.
Requirements
- You are currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an accredited college or university, regardless of your major field of study.
- You must maintain a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.4 throughout your academic career.
- You possess prior customer service experience, demonstrating your ability to assist the public or internal stakeholders effectively.
- You exhibit exceptional written communication skills, ensuring clarity and professionalism in all email correspondence.
- You demonstrate strong verbal communication abilities, allowing you to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- You have a comprehensive understanding of the Microsoft Windows operating system, including file structures and system settings.
- You are equally proficient in navigating and troubleshooting Apple macOS systems in a business context.
- You are familiar with standard business office technologies, such as multi-function printers, scanners, and video conferencing equipment.
- You have a foundational knowledge of IT Help Desk procedures, which may have been acquired through academic projects or part-time employment.

Practical notes
This is an in-person internship located at our riverside campus in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The schedule is flexible, and we will collaborate with the intern to establish a timetable that suits both parties. Office attire is casual, allowing interns to wear jeans on a daily basis. Compensation is offered at an hourly rate of $17 to $18.
