In this position, you will take the lead of an engineering team dedicated to enhancing security and privacy features within Verkada's Command Platform. Your primary focus will be on creating platform services that protect customer data, while navigating various technology stacks. This role merges hands-on coding with leadership duties and requires collaboration across multiple product lines to ensure comprehensive security measures are in place.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to enhance security measures across Verkada's product offerings, ensuring they align with customer needs and expectations.
• Design and deploy security and privacy services for the Command SaaS platform, advocating for their integration throughout the organization.
• Expand the implementation of Enterprise-Controlled Encryption across all Verkada products, ensuring robust data protection.
• Work closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to drive company-wide security initiatives and strategies.
• Serve as a representative of Verkada's security expertise by engaging in public speaking at conferences, writing blog posts, and contributing to open-source projects.
• Mentor and guide team members in best practices for software development, security, and privacy.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to inform security strategies and platform enhancements.
• Foster a culture of security awareness within the organization, promoting best practices among all employees.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of professional experience as a software engineer, demonstrating a strong technical background.
• A minimum of 3 years in a managerial role within an engineering context, showcasing leadership capabilities.
• Proven experience in leading teams that develop distributed systems with a focus on quality, scalability, and reliability.
• Proficient coding skills with a passion for writing code on a daily basis.
• A keen interest in keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in security and privacy technologies.
• Excellent collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork across diverse groups.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitating clear and effective information sharing.
• Availability to work onsite five days a week, contributing to team cohesion and collaboration.
