Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Formal education in accounting or finance is a baseline requirement.
At least 3 years of accounting experience includes hands-on month end close and financial reporting and analysis. Hands-on involvement in close and reporting processes is built through this experience.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting principles is required. Foundational accounting knowledge follows US GAAP standards.
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Ramp and Microsoft Office Suite tools is required. Core finance tools including Excel and ERP systems are used daily.
Self-starting organizational skills manage ambiguity effectively. Navigating ambiguity is handled through strong organization.
Strong communication skills enable effective collaboration across teams. Cross-team collaboration relies on clear communication.
Nice to have
A licensed CPA is preferred. Professional certification is viewed as an advantage.
Experience at a startup, high-growth company, or similarly fast-paced environment supports comfort with building processes from scratch. Startup exposure builds process development capability.
Experience supporting or leading an ERP or systems implementation is valued. Implementation leadership strengthens system initiatives.
Exposure to a VC-backed company and familiarity with investor reporting requirements is beneficial. Investor reporting familiarity aids compliance.
Background in public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm) is an asset. Public accounting experience brings structured methods.
Experience supporting external audits or audit preparation is helpful. Audit readiness is supported through this experience.
