About the role
You will own the end to end development and optimization of plastic injection molding processes that directly support new product introductions and long term production programs. You will lead cross functional investigations and implement data driven improvements that enhance quality, reduce scrap, and increase overall equipment effectiveness. You will act as the primary technical leader for tooling, molding trials, and process qualification activities across multiple projects. You will partner closely with Engineering, Tooling, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to align on root cause analysis and corrective action plans. You will evaluate and recommend plastic materials and resins based on performance, manufacturability, and cost targets. You will utilize scientific molding principles and statistical methods to establish robust, repeatable processes that meet demanding customer specifications. You will provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to Process Technicians, Mold Technicians, and production personnel.

What you'll do
Lead the development, validation, and optimization of plastic injection molding processes for both new products and existing production programs.
Partner with Tooling, Product Development, and Manufacturing teams on mold design reviews, tooling modifications, and new product launches.
Analyze molding performance using data and implement improvements to enhance quality, reduce scrap, improve cycle times, and increase overall equipment effectiveness.
Evaluate and recommend plastic materials and resins based on product performance, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
Utilize scientific molding principles, statistical methods, and data analysis to establish robust and repeatable molding processes.
Troubleshoot molding defects and process issues such as flash, short shots, sink marks, warpage, dimensional variation, and cosmetic concerns.
Develop, maintain, and update process documentation, including setup sheets, work instructions, validation reports, and process standards.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing teams to investigate customer complaints, nonconformances, and returned product, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to Process Technicians, Mold Technicians, and production personnel.
Support capital projects involving molding equipment, auxiliary systems, automation, and process monitoring technologies.
Apply design of experiments and problem solving methodologies to drive process capability and long term stability.
Monitor key performance indicators and establish controls to ensure consistent process execution at scale.
Contribute to the development of strategic manufacturing roadmaps that align with business and customer demands.
Requirements
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
Must possess a minimum of five years of experience in plastics injection molding process engineering or a closely related technical role.
Must demonstrate a strong understanding of plastic materials, resin properties, and polymer science fundamentals.
Must be proficient in scientific molding techniques, including rheology, thermodynamics, and cavity pressure analysis.
Must have hands on experience with molding process development, validation, and troubleshooting in a production environment.
Must be able to interpret and apply customer requirements, industry standards, and regulatory specifications to manufacturing processes.
Must have excellent analytical, problem solving, and data driven decision making skills.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams and lead technical training.
Must be willing to travel as required to support manufacturing operations, tooling partners, and customer engagements.
