Uncommon Prep Athletics Coaches are tasked with fostering a lifelong love of movement, teamwork, and resilience. Through high-energy, inclusive programming across multiple sports and fitness activities, our coaches build confident, disciplined student-athletes. Our fast-paced, culturally responsive athletics program emphasizes character, respect, and accountability. We are currently seeking passionate leaders to fill the following coaching positions:

• Founding Head Coach
• Track & Field/Cross Country (Stipend: $2,500)
• Assistant Track & Field Coach (Stipend: $1,500)
• Head Boys Tennis Coach
• Spring (Stipend: $2,500)
• Head Boys Volleyball Coach
• Spring (Stipend: $2,500)
• Assistant Boys Volleyball Coach
• Spring (Stipend: $1,500)

Applicants should meet the following requirements: a minimum of 2-3 years of coaching experience, preferably at the high school or youth level; strong foundational knowledge of volleyball techniques, training methods, and game strategy; demonstrated commitment to working with high school students, particularly in urban school settings; interest in program-building and fostering a positive, cohesive team culture; willingness to obtain and maintain required certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, NFHS, NJSIAA); excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; and a high school diploma, with a bachelor's degree preferred.

All head coaches must adhere to NJSIAA-mandated safety certifications, including Concussion, Heat Illness, CPR, and First Aid. Coaches are required to uphold and enforce all eligibility standards for student-athletes, complete a criminal background check and fingerprinting as per state law, and comply with all NJSIAA coaching requirements within the required timeframe, often within 1 year of hire.

This role involves owning the full athletic journey for students, guiding them through movement, collaboration, and resilience. You will create confident team members through high-energy sessions in urban settings with diverse groups. Upholding character, respect, and accountability for every participant on and off the field is central to this position.

Compensation

This role offers a stipend based on position: $2,500 for head coach roles and $1,500 for assistant roles.

Key Responsibilities

Designing inclusive drills that spark lifelong motion for various sports and fitness styles.

Building season structures that develop disciplined, confident players while tracking progress carefully.

Guiding varsity and first-timers through technique work, ensuring each athlete moves safely and effectively.

Championing team culture by setting norms that keep groups cohesive, positive, and performance-ready.

Organizing training schedules and logistics so sessions run smoothly within school timelines and rules.

Tracking compliance items like forms and certifications, keeping records accurate and current.

Partnering with families and staff to support student wellbeing and consistent attendance at events.

Maintaining equipment and facilities, reporting needs early so activities proceed without disruption.

Requirements

Holding at least two to three years of coaching experience, ideally within high school or youth settings.

Demonstrating solid understanding of volleyball methods, along with training plans and game strategy.

Completing NJSIAA safety certifications for concussion, heat illness, CPR, and first aid as required.

Passing a criminal background check and fingerprinting according to state regulations without delay.

Upholding eligibility standards for students and meeting all district and association rules.

Confirming a high school diploma is present; having a bachelor's degree is preferred.
