Uber Freight is actively searching for seasoned customer service experts who bring a specialized background in transportation, supply chain, or logistics to our growing operations in Canada. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the end-to-end movement of goods, acting as the central point of control for the transportation lifecycle within our technology platforms. This professional will ensure that every product reaches its destination accurately, on schedule, and with a sharp focus on maximizing cost efficiency for the business. Success in this position requires a proactive mindset, where the individual anticipates issues before they escalate and safeguards the integrity of the supply chain. The role demands a high level of ownership over vendor relationships and operational workflows, requiring strong advocacy for both the customer and the carrier network. You will leverage technology as your primary instrument, using data and system insights to drive decisions that enhance service reliability. This hybrid position is based out of our Oakville, ON office, blending remote flexibility with in-person collaboration.

What you'll do
- Manage the complete order lifecycle using the Transportation Management System (TMS) from initiation to final delivery.
- Ensure customer expectations for on-time pickups and deliveries are consistently met or exceeded through vigilant monitoring.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contracted carriers and other carriers in your service area to secure capacity.
- Arrange freight coverage and select carriers efficiently through systemic routing and spot shipments, including strategic rate negotiation.
- Optimize order routing and consolidation within the TMS for cost-effectiveness and transit times across all transportation modes.
- Monitor and correct shipment data inaccuracies to maintain the integrity of the operational record.
- Proactively analyze operations to prevent service disruptions and identify risks before they impact the customer.
- Develop and implement programs to improve service and reduce costs, aligning with the broader transportation strategy of the business.
- Maintain professional and timely communication with all stakeholders, including shippers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Identify performance trends among shippers, receivers, and carriers, and translate insights into actionable process improvements.
- Resolve carrier invoice discrepancies within TMS financials to ensure accurate and timely payment processing.
- Provide TMS training to new customer and vendor users, demonstrating deep knowledge of their business practices and system capabilities.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex logistical issues, guiding resolution efforts to successful closure.
- Conduct regular audits of transportation documentation to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 or more years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain.
- Experience with over-the-road transportation within Canada.
- Familiarity with Microsoft and/or Google Workspace.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills essential for daily interaction with carriers and clients.
- Basic proficiency in navigating computer systems and applications required for the role.
- A reliable means of transportation to commute to the Oakville office on a regular basis.
- Willingness to adhere to standard working hours as defined by the operational needs of the business.
- Capability to understand and execute standard operating procedures without constant supervision.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment while performing daily tasks.
- Legal right to work in Canada without sponsorship requirements for the position duration.
- Previous exposure to financial reconciliation or invoice correction within a logistics context is mandatory.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
- Strong understanding of cross-border transportation and the freight logistics industry.
- Experience with LTL (Less Than Truckload), FTL (Full Truckload), and flatbed transportation.
- Ability to run and validate Business Intelligence (BI) reports, interpret data, and provide insights to managers or customers.
- Knowledge of freight brokerage operations and rate benchmarking techniques.
- Understanding of customs documentation and compliance procedures for Canadian shipments.
- Familiarity with load board platforms and carrier procurement processes.
- Experience in a unionized or non-unionized industrial environment.
- Previous involvement in process improvement initiatives that resulted in measurable cost savings.
- Exposure to third-party logistics (3PL) environments and client service expectations.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions for data analysis and reporting.
- Background in sustainability or logistics optimization projects.
