The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Lead develops, implements, and monitors company environmental health and safety (EH&S) programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role owns the end-to-end lifecycle of safety systems, translating complex regulatory landscapes into actionable procedures that protect people and the planet. The hire will own the strategic direction of EH&S initiatives, ensuring they are tightly aligned with the company's carbon transformation mission and operational execution. They will manage hazardous waste removal vendors and maintain safety equipment inventories to ensure operational integrity. This position is responsible for fostering a culture of safety and compliance that permeates every layer of the organization. The EH&S Lead will act as a critical bridge between regulatory requirements and on-site implementation. They will leverage data to drive continuous improvement and safeguard the workforce.

What you'll do
- Orchestrates and leads all Environmental Health and Safety activities, including planning, implementation, and management of technical performance to ensure quality and financial objectives are attained.
- Architects and leads complex EH&S projects from design through execution, establishing short and long-term objectives and presenting strategic recommendations to executive management.
- Certifies and maintains all necessary permits to guarantee Environmental and Regulatory Compliance across all operational scopes.
- Directs the implementation of appropriate corrective actions where health and safety hazards are identified, ensuring timely risk mitigation.
- Provides leadership and guidance for all EH&S related programs, ensuring strict adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Designs, compiles, and maintains comprehensive electronic and hard copy reports and records, including system revisions and internal and external presentations.
- Partners with senior and executive management to formulate and execute current and annual technical, schedule, quality, and financial objectives for the EH&S program(s).
- Serves as the primary organizational spokesperson and liaison with line management, program managers, technical staff, and external regulatory representatives.
- Champions workplace safety initiatives and leads the development, maintenance, and management of site-specific EH&S programs, including contractor safety and hazardous chemical management.
- Compiles, analyzes, maintains, and interprets complex safety statistical data related to occupational illnesses, accidents, and near-miss records.
- Manishes Safety Committee activities, including agenda preparation, report generation, follow-ups, and the administration of incentive programs.
- Oversees the management of all safety programs, conducts training sessions, and maintains meticulous documentation for protocols such as Lockout/Tagout and PPE standards.
- Leads investigations into all accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents, performing root cause analysis and evaluating injury case studies.
- Conducts regular site inspections and hazard assessments to identify risks related to unsafe equipment, structural hazards, or environmental threats.
- Develops and implements corrective and preventive measures, including engineering controls and administrative actions, to eliminate or reduce organizational risks.
- Provides expert support for worker's compensation claims, including intake, investigation, reporting, and return to work coordination.
- Updates environment, health, and safety policies in accordance with evolving local regulations and industry best practices.
- Ensures all construction and modification activities align with established safety policies, ensuring worker comprehension of responsibilities.
Requirements
Twelve maintains a drug-free workplace and conducts pre-employment drug screening. All employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including boosters when eligible, or have a medical or religious exemption on file. All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship at the time of hire. The role may require access to sites or locations that require United States government security clearance. Ability to pass a criminal background check is required. The successful candidate must be able to physically perform the essential functions of this role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
