The EHR Data Lead role owns the construction of the connective tissue linking Chamber's value-based cardiology network with the practices it serves. The hire will manage the movement of clinical data into and out of local practice electronic health records to ensure appropriate notifications, care gaps, and transitions-of-care signals reach providers within the tools they already use. This position is hands-on and construction-oriented, requiring deep internal knowledge of EHRs and the ability to move data independently. The hired individual will meet each system on its own terms, coordinate with the vendor or practice IT when necessary, and facilitate data flow using AI to perform the work of multiple people.

What you'll do

Obtain read and write access to a varied set of practice EHRs using FHIR APIs, HL7 feeds, VPN/remote access, portal pulls, SFTP drops, or CSV exports, as dictated by the practice's system, and deposit that data where the engineering team can clean, normalize, and model it.

Communicate directly with EHR vendors and practice IT teams to negotiate access, resolve connection issues, and clear integration obstacles that lack an immediate solution, including authoring and supervising Data Transfer Agreements with external providers.

Design and deploy clinical notifications to practices such as GDMT prompts, care gaps, and ADT-triggered discharge alerts, ensuring they appear inside provider workflows rather than a separate portal.

Perform initial mapping of raw patient data from disparate EMR formats toward the company's standardized target data models, delivering translation-ready information for engineering to complete cleaning and modeling.

Utilize AI tools to extract, normalize, and route unstructured clinical data when direct integration is not feasible.

Support partner and payer data integrations by ingesting eligibility files, claims, and attribution data, and generating return files in alignment with the analytics stack (dbt, attribution logic).

Collaborate with internal engineering on downstream cleaning, normalization, and modeling, focusing on getting data through the door rather than owning the data model, while jointly troubleshooting data ingestion errors.

Work with database developers to maintain smooth data warehousing operations and partner with internal teams including clinical, network, and practice-facing roles to translate operational requirements into reliable data flows.

Build for durability by creating monitoring, error-handling, and documentation that maintain integration stability as the system scales.

Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA and data protection laws throughout all data transmission and handling processes.

Requirements

Possess 5-7+ years of experience in healthcare technology, EHR implementation, or interoperability.

Demonstrate a record of obtaining live data access across multiple ambulatory EHR systems through APIs, HL7/FHIR, VPN access, portal pulls, or other nonstandard pathways.

Show working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7v2, C-CDA) - sufficient to use them fluidly, without necessarily having built interface engines from scratch.

Exhibit experience navigating vendor and practice-IT relationships to secure necessary access capable of conducting procurement or coordination discussions beyond purely technical conversations.

Operate comfortably within constrained clinic environments and legacy technology systems.
