What you'll do

• Conduct comprehensive site assessments to determine the specific water treatment requirements based on source water characteristics and client objectives.
• Design and optimize water treatment processes, including the selection and configuration of appropriate unit operations to meet stringent water quality targets.
• Develop detailed engineering schematics and process flow diagrams that illustrate the treatment train and facilitate team understanding.
• Perform rigorous analysis of operational data to identify trends, diagnose system inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions promptly.
• Author clear, step-by-step operational protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that enable field technicians to execute tasks reliably with minimal supervision.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and environmental consultants to ensure all treatment methodologies comply with current legislation and permitting conditions.
• Maintain detailed records of all design modifications, chemical dosing adjustments, and process changes to create a clear audit trail for future reference.
• Lead on-site commissioning activities to verify that all mechanical and treatment systems function correctly under real-world conditions.
• Deliver technical training to field staff and junior engineers on new procedures, safety protocols, and best practices for system operation.
• Proactively identify potential process bottlenecks and devise innovative engineering solutions to improve system reliability and treatment efficiency.
• Evaluate emerging treatment technologies and assess their applicability to current and future project needs.
• Coordinate closely with project managers to ensure treatment schedules are adhered to and project milestones are achieved on time.
• Interpret complex technical reports, research papers, and manufacturer specifications to extract key information for practical application.
• Ensure all documentation, including logs, reports, and maintenance records, is meticulously maintained to support transparency and regulatory audits.

Requirements

• Hold a current certification for water treatment operations specific to the province of British Columbia.
• Possess a minimum of three years of hands-on experience specifically managing mine water treatment or complex industrial water treatment systems.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how environmental permitting regulations directly impact the layout, operation, and compliance of treatment facilities.
• Exhibit the capability to read and interpret intricate technical reports, research data, and engineering drawings to formulate concrete action plans.
• Show strong problem-solving skills to address unexpected system failures and implement effective solutions under tight deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that complex engineering concepts are conveyed in an understandable manner.
• Maintain a strict commitment to safety protocols and environmental compliance standards in all field and office activities.
• Be able to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple project responsibilities simultaneously.

• Possess hands-on experience with both active physical-chemical treatment and passive natural treatment technologies, as this is considered a valuable asset for handling diverse water quality issues.
