You will be responsible for orchestrating technical workflows from initial assessment through final delivery, ensuring alignment between engineering models, construction execution, and strategic planning. Key Responsibilities
You will lead the technical oversight and management of stormwater infrastructure assets located within the Chantilly area. This involves developing and implementing intake sequencing protocols that define how water enters the system. You will establish and manage structural build routines, creating repeatable processes that ensure consistency and quality. A core function is the implementation of rigorous peer review gates to validate all calculations, designs, and methodologies before final approval and deployment. You will guide the final ship-out phase, ensuring all project deliverables are completed to regulatory and operational standards.
A primary duty is the translation of complex field observations and on-the-ground realities into sophisticated hydraulic models. These models will directly inform capital investment plans and portfolio health assessments, providing a data-driven foundation for decision-making. You will design optimized intake pathways, directing stormwater flows into structured evaluation frameworks. This requires shaping build strategies that carefully balance maximum hydraulic capacity against practical construction phasing and logistical constraints.
You will conduct comprehensive peer reviews of all engineering calculations and layout designs, scrutinizing them for accuracy and compliance. Coordination of ship activities is essential, requiring you to manage handoffs that meet stringent regulatory documentation standards. Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate brings three to five years of focused experience in civil infrastructure, with a demonstrated history of managing complex projects. A deep understanding of municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s) and all associated design criteria is mandatory. You must possess the ability to interpret intricate survey data and subsequently adjust plans to accurately reflect as-built conditions in the field. Clear and effective communication is essential, as you will regularly interface with government officials, external consultants, and on-site field teams. Strong self-management skills are required to handle project timelines and deliverables, ensuring all work remains within defined technical and budgetary scopes.
Preferred Qualifications and Tools
Possessing proficiency in advanced hydraulic modeling tools and modern Geographic Information Systems (GIS) platforms is highly valued. This role requires fluency with a specific industry-standard technology stack. Core skills and tools include Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, and the Storm Water Management Model (SWMM).
