About the role
The Microstation Specialist will own the end to end production of survey deliverables using MicroStation software within the Land Survey group of Matrix New World Engineering. This role requires a hands on approach to maintaining drawing standards, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the full lifecycle of civil design documentation. The specialist will act as the primary technical resource for translating survey data into accurate construction documentation. You will collaborate directly with senior engineers and project managers to resolve complex spatial data challenges. The position demands a proactive mindset to optimize workflows and leverage MicroStation capabilities for efficient project execution. Success in this role will be measured by the accuracy, clarity, and timely delivery of survey packages to public agencies. You will be responsible for safeguarding the quality of digital survey models that form the foundation of our coastal and urban infrastructure projects.

What you'll do
Perform detailed MicroStation modeling to generate precise survey drawings and plan sheets for municipal projects.
Utilize MicroStation tools to process raw survey data imported from field instruments and third party consultants.
Coordinate with the Land Survey group to validate spatial data and confirm compliance with agency standards.
Develop and maintain template files, level of detail definitions, and custom cells to improve team productivity.
Prepare construction documentation packages for submission to the New York City Department of Transportation and other public agencies.
Manage drawing revisions, version control, and issue coordination for survey deliverables across project teams.
Apply coordinate geometry principles to adjust and control survey figures in alignment with project design requirements.
Create graphic representations of survey elements such as points, alignments, and profiles for clarity and accuracy.
Support the production of as built surveys documenting existing conditions for infrastructure and waterfront facilities.
Assist in the integration of survey data with other engineering disciplines to ensure consistency in the overall model.
Perform quality checks on drawing views, labels, scales, and annotations before final delivery to clients.
Export survey drawings to various formats required for printing, plotting, and digital submission to regulatory bodies.
Maintain project specific layers, levels, and reference files to ensure organized and efficient data management.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of survey documentation standards and best practices for the Land Survey group.
Requirements
You must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Survey Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
You must possess a minimum of five years of demonstrated experience using MicroStation for survey and civil design applications.
You must have hands on experience preparing survey deliverables for New York City or State agencies such as MTA, DDC, DEP, DOT, and Parks.
You must have a strong understanding of survey workflows including data collection, coordinate systems, and datum transformations.
You must be proficient in reading and interpreting survey drawings, field notes, and legal descriptions provided by land surveyors.
You must demonstrate knowledge of civil engineering terminology, graphic standards, and construction documentation conventions.
You must have experience working with large datasets and complex geometry in a CAD environment without performance issues.
You must have proven ability to manage multiple project files and meet strict deadlines for public agency submissions.
Nice to have
Experience with related CAD software used in conjunction with MicroStation for survey workflows.
Familiarity with coastal and marine engineering projects or waterfront infrastructure documentation.
Understanding of BIM concepts and how they apply to survey and as built documentation.
Practical notes
This is a full time position based in New York, NY.
Travel is not required for this role as all work is conducted from the office location.
