What you'll do
- Lead the installation, programming, and commissioning of building automation systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and execute project plans effectively.
- Conduct thorough system diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues in BAS installations, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
- Provide technical support and training to clients and internal staff on system operation and maintenance best practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all BAS projects, including system designs, programming changes, and maintenance logs.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in building automation, integrating innovative solutions into current projects as appropriate.
- Mentor and guide junior technicians and apprentices, fostering a culture of learning and professional development within the team.
- Participate in safety audits and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols during project execution.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals and cost estimates, contributing to the overall business development efforts of Trim Group.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery within the BAS department.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded throughout the project lifecycle.
- Actively participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance service offerings.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in building automation systems or a related field, with a strong focus on installation and maintenance.
- Proven expertise in programming and configuring various BAS platforms, including but not limited to Honeywell, Johnson Controls, and Trane.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and their integration with building automation technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including ASHRAE, NEC, and local building regulations.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Certification in building automation systems or related fields (e.g., BICSI, NETA, or equivalent).
- Experience with energy management systems and sustainability practices.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity protocols as they pertain to BAS.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a technical environment.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in BAS programming languages and tools, including BACnet, Modbus, and LONworks.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Competence in using diagnostic tools and software for system analysis and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications for documentation and reporting.

- Candidates should be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as project demands dictate.
