What you'll do

• Design and implement scalable backend services using Java, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the frontend.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product managers, and UX/UI designers, to define and refine project requirements.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs that enable seamless communication between the backend and frontend components of our applications.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and maintain high code quality across the development team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing backend systems, optimizing performance and enhancing functionality as needed.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design through to deployment and maintenance.
• Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure the reliability and stability of backend services.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our backend architecture and development processes.
• Document technical specifications and system designs to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
• Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team.
• Work with cloud technologies and services, deploying applications in cloud environments to enhance scalability and availability.
• Engage in agile methodologies, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure smooth project execution.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Java Backend Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of Java programming and related frameworks.
• Solid knowledge of backend technologies, including RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and database management systems (SQL and NoSQL).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, and experience deploying applications in cloud environments.
• Proficiency in using version control systems, particularly Git, for collaborative development.
• Understanding of software development methodologies, particularly Agile and Scrum, and experience working in an agile environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS) to facilitate better collaboration with frontend teams.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to streamline the development and deployment processes.
• Experience in working with Agile project management tools such as Jira or Trello.
