We are seeking a dynamic Sales Manager to join our expanding team at Transfr, focusing on enhancing our presence in public schools across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. This position is primarily field-based and involves establishing strong connections with key stakeholders while navigating the intricate procurement processes of school districts. Your efforts will play a crucial role in equipping students with essential career readiness tools, ultimately influencing their future career paths.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Oversee the entire sales cycle within the Tri-State region, ensuring effective management from lead generation to closing deals.
- Build and nurture relationships with key district personnel, including superintendents, principals, CTE directors, and procurement staff, to drive sales growth.
- Understand and navigate the purchasing and budgeting processes of large urban school districts, including knowledge of funding sources such as Title I, Perkins, and state CTE grants.
- Create and sustain a robust sales pipeline, delivering accurate forecasts and meticulously tracking all sales activities using Salesforce.
- Act as a representative of Transfr at district meetings, conferences, and on-site demonstrations, establishing yourself as a trusted partner in career and technical education.
- Collaborate closely with implementation, customer success, and marketing teams to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and successful renewals.
- Develop and refine sales processes while mentoring junior sales team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Provide hands-on coaching and guidance, participating in calls and reviewing proposals to maintain high standards within the team.
Requirements
- A well-established professional network within New York public schools is essential.
- Prior experience in selling to or working within complex urban school districts and understanding their procurement systems.
- Proven track record in consultative, relationship-driven sales, with experience managing lengthy sales cycles and meeting revenue goals.
- Proficient in using Salesforce CRM for managing pipelines, forecasting, and tracking activities.
- Strong presentation skills, capable of effectively communicating product value to senior district leaders in terms of student and workforce outcomes.
- Must reside in the Tri-State area and be prepared to travel for in-person meetings and demonstrations.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in new business SaaS sales is required.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time to customer locations.
- Demonstrated ability to independently build and prospect a sales pipeline with a proactive mindset.
- Consistent history of surpassing quarterly and annual sales targets.
- Proven success in cultivating and maintaining long-term customer relationships with high retention rates.
- Strong background in consultative sales, particularly in managing complex sales cycles.
- Practical experience with Salesforce is a must.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong presentation capabilities.
- Experience in mentoring and developing sales professionals is highly valued.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in the EdTech sector, particularly in CTE or workforce development sales.
- Familiarity with Tri-State education funding streams and grant cycles would be advantageous.
- An existing network of contacts within the Department of Education's central and borough offices is a plus.
- Experience selling to K-12 education systems or government organizations is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies would be a valuable asset.
