Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and configure VSAT systems to meet client specifications and requirements.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine optimal installation locations for satellite equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to VSAT systems, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to develop project timelines and deliverables.
- Provide technical support and training to clients on the operation and maintenance of VSAT systems.
- Monitor system performance and conduct regular maintenance checks to ensure optimal functionality.
- Prepare detailed documentation of installations, configurations, and maintenance procedures for future reference.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in satellite technology and recommend improvements to existing systems.
- Assist in the development of proposals and technical presentations for prospective clients.
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary equipment and materials for projects.
- Participate in on-call support rotations to provide after-hours assistance as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and workflows to enhance service delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in VSAT installation and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of satellite communication principles and technologies.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing satellite communication equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Willingness to travel for site installations and client meetings as required.
Nice to have
- Experience with specific VSAT technologies such as iDirect, Hughes, or Comtech.
- Familiarity with network protocols and configurations, including TCP/IP and routing.
- Certifications related to satellite communications or telecommunications engineering.
- Knowledge of maritime communication systems and regulations.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and software for satellite systems.
- Familiarity with RF (Radio Frequency) principles and equipment.
- Experience with satellite network management systems.
- Strong technical writing skills for documentation and reporting.
- Competence in using project management software to track progress and deliverables.
