Motion Designer
Job description
About the role
You define the visual language of Thndr through motion, turning dense financial concepts into clear and memorable stories that help people invest with confidence. Your work sits at the intersection of communication strategy and design, where you use timing, pacing, and movement to build understanding and encourage action. You own the end to end creative motion process, from initial brief and storyboard exploration to polished animation and thoughtful sound integration. You are not just an executor; you are a concept partner who asks tough questions, challenges assumptions, and raises the creative bar for everyone on the team. Every piece you create is expected to reflect the quality of our products and support our ambition to set the creative benchmark for investment brands in the region.
Key facts
What you'll do
Develop creative concepts that solve communication problems through motion, ensuring each idea serves the user's need for clarity.
Turn briefs into visual stories by exploring narrative structures, creating storyboards, and defining creative directions before production begins.
Design and animate content for product launches, brand campaigns, educational content, social media, events, and presentations, always choosing the most purposeful motion solution.
Collaborate closely with copywriters, designers, video creatives, marketers, and product teams from concept through to final delivery, aligning motion with business and user goals.
Ask the right questions to uncover the real problem, then propose creative solutions that address those root causes rather than surface symptoms.
Present and explain your creative thinking, not just your final work, so stakeholders understand the rationale behind every motion decision.
Create motion that is clear, engaging, and purposeful, avoiding animation for its own sake and focusing on communication that drives action.
Maintain a high standard of craft across animation, typography, layout, composition, pacing, transitions, and sound, ensuring consistency with Thndr's evolving visual language.
Help evolve Thndr's motion language, systems, and creative standards by documenting patterns, building reusable solutions, and sharing knowledge.
Explore new techniques, tools, and AI workflows that can improve the quality or speed of production without compromising clarity or brand integrity.
Create 3D motion and animation where it strengthens the idea, adding depth, realism, or metaphor that flat motion cannot achieve.
Requirements
You have strong motion design and storytelling skills, with a portfolio that clearly demonstrates your ability to turn complex information into simple, engaging narratives.
You have excellent graphic design fundamentals, including a deep understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy, composition, and color theory as they apply to motion.
You can transform abstract financial concepts into simple, relatable visual stories that resonate with first time investors and experienced users alike.
You are confident developing concepts from the ground up, rather than waiting for fully formed creative direction from others.
You have experience storyboarding and communicating ideas visually before jumping into production, using sketches, animatics, and iterative feedback.
You are highly proficient in After Effects and the Adobe Creative Suite, using them efficiently to produce high quality work on schedule.
You have a track record of creating original design assets for motion, not only animating work produced by other designers.
You have a good understanding of editing, rhythm, and pacing, using timing to support clarity, emphasis, and emotional impact.
You are comfortable working with 3D software such as Cinema 4D, and you can integrate 3D elements into motion work when they add value to the idea.
You care about clarity in financial communication and are sensitive to the responsibility that comes with helping people make investment decisions.
You are able to work effectively in a fast moving startup environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting quickly as products and strategies evolve.
You communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and during creative reviews, providing rationale for your decisions and being open to feedback.
You are based in or able to work from our Cairo Office, aligning your schedule with the local team and our collaboration practices.
You are fluent in English, enabling you to collaborate with cross functional teams and contribute to documentation and presentations.
Nice to have
Experience creating financial, educational, or investment related content that demonstrates an understanding of the space and its communication challenges.
Familiarity with AI tools for motion and design workflows, used responsibly to enhance quality and efficiency.
