What you'll do
- Coordinate project activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure timely completion of construction projects.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, facilitating clear communication and addressing any concerns that arise.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Monitor project timelines and deliverables, proactively identifying potential delays or issues and implementing solutions to keep projects on track.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans and strategies, contributing insights based on your observations and experiences.
- Organize and participate in project meetings, documenting minutes and action items to ensure accountability and follow-through.
- Conduct site visits to assess project progress, verify work quality, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Support the procurement process by assisting in the selection and management of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet project specifications and timelines.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of project specifications, designs, and requirements to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders.
- Facilitate the onboarding of new team members and subcontractors, ensuring they understand project goals, timelines, and expectations.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and financial forecasts, tracking expenditures and reporting on budget variances as needed.
- Foster a positive team environment by promoting collaboration, sharing knowledge, and encouraging professional development among team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in project coordination or management within the construction industry.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Procore, or similar applications.
- Familiarity with construction processes, terminology, and regulations, including safety standards and building codes.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in response to changing project needs.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
- Basic financial acumen, with the ability to assist in budget tracking and reporting.
Nice to have
- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar credentials is a plus.
- Experience with sustainable construction practices and green building certifications (e.g., LEED).
- Knowledge of local construction market trends and regulations in Iowa.
