Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project specifications and requirements, ensuring that prefabricated components meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Oversee the prefabrication process, including the assembly of structural components, mechanical systems, and other elements as required by project specifications.
- Utilize advanced machinery and tools to fabricate components, ensuring precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections of prefabricated items to identify any defects or areas for improvement, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
- Maintain an organized and efficient workspace, ensuring that all tools and materials are stored properly and that the shop is kept clean and safe.
- Train and mentor junior staff members in best practices for prefabrication, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to coordinate the timely delivery of prefabricated components to job sites, minimizing delays and ensuring project timelines are met.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions, contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new prefabrication techniques and processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including time logs, material usage, and inventory levels, to support project tracking and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, actively promoting a culture of safety within the shop.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders as needed to provide updates on prefabrication progress and address any concerns.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a prefabrication or construction-related role, with a strong understanding of building systems and components.
- Proficiency in using various tools and machinery commonly found in a prefabrication shop, including saws, welders, and CNC machines.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work that meets industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions quickly.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a focus on quality and safety.
Nice to have
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital tools used in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices, with a focus on efficiency and waste reduction.
- Certification in safety training or relevant industry certifications that demonstrate a commitment to professional development.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and machinery specific to prefabrication.
- Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and building codes relevant to prefabrication.
- Familiarity with software tools for project management and scheduling, such as Microsoft Project or similar applications.
- Strong organizational skills to manage workflow and prioritize tasks effectively.
