About the role
The will play a critical role in managing the company's core disbursement accounting functions and ensuring compliance with international statutory requirements. This position involves overseeing the entire procure-to-pay process, employee expense management, and the accounting of fixed and intangible assets. The Senior Accountant will lead an offshore team of contractors, ensuring that all accounts payable, expense, and liability accounts are accurately maintained and reconciled. Additionally, the role requires close collaboration with external auditors and third-party accountants to uphold statutory compliance in the UK and Poland. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting operations, team leadership, and a detailed understanding of international accounting standards, particularly within a technology-driven environment.

What you'll do
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of an offshore team of three contractors, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and related transactions.
- Manage the entire procure-to-pay cycle, including maintaining vendor files, coding invoices, processing payments, posting monthly accruals, and performing reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
- Oversee the employee expense reporting and reimbursement process, ensuring adherence to company policies, proper documentation, and system efficiency.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all accounts payable and expense-related inquiries received via Slack and email, providing prompt and accurate support to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with external third-party accountants and auditors to ensure statutory accounting compliance for the company's entities in Poland and the UK, including preparing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile accounts related to disbursements, including prepaid vendor expenses, fixed assets, intangible assets, and accrued expenses, ensuring all entries are accurate and properly documented.
- Manage the lifecycle of fixed assets, including tracking, reporting, and ensuring compliance with lease agreements and accounting standards.
- Handle the accounting for intangible assets and software capitalization, ensuring adherence to GAAP/IFRS standards and proper documentation of asset valuation and amortization.
- Support the month-end and quarter-end closing processes by ensuring all disbursement-related entries, accruals, and reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain detailed documentation of processes, controls, and reconciliations to support audit requirements and internal reviews.
- Continuously review and improve existing accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with evolving standards and regulations.
- Participate in internal audits and external audits as required, providing necessary documentation and explanations related to disbursement accounting.
- Assist in implementing new accounting systems or tools as needed, ensuring smooth integration and user adoption.
- Keep abreast of changes in UK and Polish accounting regulations and standards, ensuring the company remains compliant with all statutory requirements.
- Contribute to the development and training of team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on accounts payable, disbursements, or related functions.
- Proven supervisory experience, managing teams or offshore contractors.
- Professional certification such as ICAEW ACA, ACCA, or CPA is preferred.
- Experience working with a Big 4 accounting firm is advantageous.
- Prior experience in a technology company or fast-paced environment is a plus.
- Strong understanding of procure-to-pay processes, accounts reconciliation, and financial controls.
- Familiarity with UK and Polish accounting regulations and standards.
- Experience with accounting software such as Netsuite, Ramp, Tipalti, and Slack is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
