About the role
The Product Owner, Data & Analytics leads the end-to-end strategy and delivery of enterprise data, reporting, and advanced analytics for SunSource and its family of companies. This role owns the analytics ecosystem, including Power BI, Databricks, data modeling, data governance, data catalog, and master data management practices. The hire partners directly with executive, business, and technology leadership to translate enterprise objectives into a clear analytics roadmap. They set direction, prioritize the backlog, and ensure high-quality analytics solutions that drive insights, growth, improved margin, and operational excellence. The role is responsible for building and maturing an analytics organization that supports both Organic and Inorganic Growth initiatives across the organization. As a member of the IT Leadership Team, the Product Owner contributes to IT strategy, governance, prioritization of initiatives, and budget planning. The position ensures enterprise value creation through disciplined delivery and stewardship of data assets. The role fosters a data-driven culture where insights enable better decision-making at every level of SunSource.

What you'll do
Champion the end-to-end ownership of the analytics roadmap for Power BI, Databricks, data modeling, data governance, data catalog, and master data management.
Define and communicate a clear product vision for the analytics organization that aligns with SunSource strategic objectives and growth initiatives.
Partner with Data Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and ensure timely delivery of data solutions.
Lead the prioritization and backlog management for analytics initiatives to maximize enterprise value and return on investment.
Establish and enforce data governance, data quality, and master data management standards across the enterprise.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to uncover insights, validate outcomes, and drive adoption of analytics solutions.
Oversee the development and delivery of reports and dashboards in Power BI that support operational and strategic decision-making.
Mentor and guide BI Analysts, providing direction, feedback, and career development within the analytics function.
Coordinate with IT leadership to align analytics initiatives with budget planning, resource allocation, and IT governance.
Drive the adoption of data catalog and lineage capabilities to improve transparency and trust in enterprise data assets.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the analytics lifecycle to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Act as the primary liaison between technology, business, and executive stakeholders to ensure alignment on analytics priorities.
Monitor key performance metrics and use data to continuously refine the analytics roadmap and delivery outcomes.
Promote a culture of data literacy and evidence-based decision-making across SunSource and its family of companies.
Requirements
Must reside in the United States.
Must be able to work in Addison, Illinois, 2301 Windsor Ct.
Must have experience with Power BI, Databricks, data modeling, data governance, data catalog, and master data management.
Must have demonstrated leadership managing analytics teams or BI Analysts.
Must possess strong skills in data strategy, roadmap development, and stakeholder management.
Must have a proven track record of delivering analytics solutions that drive growth, improve margin, and enhance decision-making.
Must be comfortable operating in a matrixed organization with cross-functional collaboration.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate vision, priorities, and outcomes to diverse audiences.
Nice to have
Experience supporting Organic and Inorganic Growth initiatives in an industrial distribution environment.
Familiarity with value-added solutions in Fluid Power, Fluid Process, Fluid Conveyance, General Industrial Components, and Industrial Repair.
Knowledge of supply chain, inventory, and operational data domains within a distribution context.
Experience with data-driven continuous improvement and margin analysis methodologies.
Background in manufacturing, industrial, or wholesale distribution sectors.

The position operates during standard corporate hours as defined by SunSource.
Travel is not required for this role.
