Senior Marketing Manager
Job description
About the role
Senior Marketing Manager (Direct to Consumer)
About the team
SumUp is building a consumer financial product with a distribution advantage that almost no other fintech can replicate. The company serves more than four million merchants, and its products connect with over a billion consumers annually. This reach positions SumUp to build one of the world's largest consumer financial ecosystems. The consumer product is already live in six European markets, moving from an emerging proposition to a product expected to serve millions of consumers. This role is central to that growth. The Senior Marketing Manager will own the owned and earned strategies that win customers directly, covering the website, public relations, partnerships, social, and brand across all six markets. It is an opportunity to build a direct acquisition engine from scratch within a small, ambitious team, competing against well-funded neobanks in Europe.
What you'll do
You will steer integrated campaigns that span website, PR, events, and brand to drive direct consumer uptake. Your work will architect the website into a conversion-focused acquisition surface, owning messaging, offers, content, localisation, and advertising across all markets. You will set the PR and partnership narrative that builds trust and visibility for the consumer brand. You will establish the retail and merchant-channel motion so consumer offerings connect through partner flows. You will track direct cost-per-customer and channel performance to guide smarter media and mix decisions. You will guard channel clarity by collaborating with brand teams, external creative and PR agencies, and peer marketing managers to ensure clean handoffs. You will translate multi-market plans into local executions, managing language and regulatory nuances without losing brand coherence. You will champion fast experiments on owned surfaces, measure impact, and iterate based on real behavior. You will own the end-to-end acquisition funnel from first touch to repeat engagement and referral. You will coordinate creative, media, and data partners to deliver cohesive stories that respect brand rules and market needs.
You'll be great for this role if...
You bring strong B2C consumer-acquisition or brand-marketing experience, ideally within fintech, a neobank, retail, or a direct-to-consumer business. You are hands-on across owned and earned channels, including website and conversion, PR and comms, partnerships, social, and events. You are comfortable owning acquisition metrics, attribution, and cost-per-customer across a channel set. You have experience planning and executing multi-market campaigns with localisation across multiple languages. You can operate independently while influencing across matrixed teams and agencies, building from scratch in an early-stage environment.
Why you should join SumUp
You will join a global, multicultural team based in London, working within historic charm and modern flair in an office-first setup. The company demonstrates a commitment to Diversity and Inclusion, fostering a workplace that values and promotes diversity and respects all perspectives. You will be enrolled in the Virtual Stock Option programme, giving you ownership in SumUp's future success. The role offers generous time off, including 28 days of paid leave plus bank holidays and special leaves. A dedicated annual L&D budget supports attending conferences or advancing your career through further education. Health matters are covered through private health insurance, including optical and dental. The company offers salary-sacrifice commuter benefits via Gogeta for financial ease. After three years of service, you can take a one-month sabbatical through the Break4me programme. Refer talented individuals through the Referral Bonus programme to earn additional rewards.
